kimlmt 23 Posted August 31, 2015 Nicholson is performing my sleeve in the morning! Having the hiatal hernia repair as well. Everything has been very smooth.
sleevefaith83 20 Posted August 31, 2015 How long did it take you from start to finish with his office? Are you out of town?
kimlmt 23 Posted August 31, 2015 No, I live in the Dallas area. From initial attendance of a seminar to now has been about 3 months. 3 very fast months!
kimlmt 23 Posted August 31, 2015 I had to have an EGD done and that was on 6/24 to verify my hernia. They called the following week with my surgery date. It's kind of unbelievable that I have to be there in 8 hours!
sleevefaith83 20 Posted August 31, 2015 Well, good luck tomorrow! Thanks for the information! Update when you're better!
iwant2becurvynotlumpy 1 Posted September 2, 2015 What made them go the hiatal hernia route? Was this found during the EGD?
sleevefaith83 20 Posted September 2, 2015 The it's cheaper with in network insurance.
Lacfish13 14 Posted September 2, 2015 I am still in the pre-op process myself and I don't have a hiatal hernia but I have loved working with the Nicholson Clinic, they have been nothing but speedy and genuinely nice! I wish you the best, they will treat you wonderfully!
sleevefaith83 20 Posted September 2, 2015 I agree. They have been great!
iwant2becurvynotlumpy 1 Posted September 2, 2015 The it's cheaper with in network insurance. What is the cost with in network doing it hiatal hernia route? I have BCBS Tx and they said my part would be like $2,800 because I hadn't met my $2,000 deductible at the time of consult. I mentioned hiatal hernia route and they said it would add an extra $4,000 or so to the total. This is with the Nicholson Clinic
SaraSleeves 17 Posted September 6, 2015 I go in Sept 11th with Nicholson for the first EGD to check for hiatal hernia. I was told it would be 6 weeks after this EGD that I would have surgery. Lacfish13 did you have the EGD and find there was no hernia? I am not sure if they'll find one with me or not, but for costs sake it would be nice. I am hoping for the hernia! It sounds weird but I do have reflux sometimes and do want the ins to cover a lot of this!! Let me know what your processes have been with True Results/ Nicholson, please. Thank you! Hope everyone is doing well.
tdhaddox 118 Posted September 6, 2015 I was sleeved by Nicholson on 8/31 and have had only a positive experience so far. I also had a hiatal hernia repair at the same time as well as removal of the gallbladder. His office initially told me he wouldn't be able to remove the gallbladder but when I went for my consult with him, he was very agreeable about doing it. Hope this helps. kimlmt 23 Posted September 6, 2015 I was also sleeved on 8/31 by Nicholson. And yes, my surgery was 6 weeks after my EGD. My hernia was worse than expected at surgery, but my recovery has been amazing! I was up and out of the house 3 days post op and again today. Obviously, I have soreness, but nothing debilitating at all! He's an amazing surgeon! You're going to be in great hands!
