I probably could return after a week, but I'm glad I don't have too. I am planning to work remotely from home next week. I was out of the house yesterday and today but get exhausted after a few hours. It was nice to know I could just come home and rest. I didn't nap but after an hour of down time, I wasn't so worn out. I really haven't needed pain meds except at night the last 2 nights, and that's just to be sure I get a good night sleep. I'm lying on both sides (with lots of pillows for support). The gas is by far the worst part.

Dr. Carlton did my sleeve on August 24,2015. He is an awesome surgeon. I had some problems with the gate keepers at the office though.

Oh no. Those gate keepers better keep it in check. ;) I had to push the True Results Richardson office too but truly we are more of an advocate for ourselves than they are for us. Was it all ok in the end?

I don't. I was originally planning on having surgery in Michigan because I live in Ohio. It was to expensive. So first I contacted true results to do the hiatal hernia route. They told me I was to far away for aftercare so I could only do a lapband at their St Louis location. I don't want a lapband. So I was pretty defeated and gave it one more shot and contacted the Nicholson clinic. I already had my egd scheduled thanks to the Dr I Michigan. So now I just have get a psych clearance, Which is scheduled this week, to schedule surgery. I was hoping to have surgery this month cause my vacation is already scheduled, my husbands was scheduled, and I have a break in school. It's not looking so good though. I am interested I out towners stories. Are you traveling? I would like to know how long you need to stay in Texas and which hotels offer discounts. I am so thankful for the Nicholson clinic.

I was wondering how it would have been to go straight to Nicholson. I live close to Dallas so I am local. Oh , I didn't know about the psych clearance. Is that for insurance or does everyone have to do that part? I was hoping for September too but they drug their feet in my cardiac clearance. I have a heart condition and got to do some fun and expensive heart testing but it took 3 weeks to get results that should have been reviewed immediately. Good luck with your psych eval and I hope it's scheduled soon for you. It's hard to be patient and hard to be out of the loop on some of the details which is where I have found myself sometimes. Best of luck. I will talk to the actual Nicholson clinic next week for the first time. So far it's been True Results.

You probably should have, may have been easier than having a middle man. I am in recovery so I think that might be why the require a psych evaluation. But I am self pay. They may want everyone to do one though. I would call Tues and ask what all is required so you can start knocking it out. Let me know how your appt goes this week. I will keep you posted as well. Good luck.

I'm a licensed massage therapist, so my job is pretty physical. When Nicholson and I discussed my job, he did say that I would need the longer side of recovery because of internal sutures. I decided to take 5 weeks off just to be sure that I would be the best I could be for my clients. If I had a desk job or could work from home, I totally believe that I could do it after a week.

Tdhaddox! I had to be there at 6:30am. Everything went so fast, I have no idea what time I actually went into surgery. Lol!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
