Sorry @@JacksdadShane but I don't have an answer for you. I start my 4 weeks of liquid diet next Sunday. All I get is 4 Protein shakes, 2 Protein Bars, 1/2 cup skim milk or 1 banana, and then a choice of 3 servings of either/or sugar free Jello or sugar free popsicle. Good luck on your liquid diet :). Let us know how it is going.

I just started mine today (14 days). My surgeon has me on Bariatric Advantage Meal Replacement. The flavors taste pretty good and I'm glad I don't have any carb or Protein counting to do. Just 5 shakes a day and I know I'm good. Hope all goes well for you! :)

14 days!!! So far I was told I had a 7 day liquid diet and I had to have 53grams minimum Protein for females, 60 males... And we were allowed sugar free Jello, sugar free Popsicles, vegetable beef or chicken broth and crystal light

Don't worry @@Trisha213 just stick with what your doctor tells you and you will be fine.

Every doctors plans are different as is every patients plan. I believe the patients plan changes depending on their BMI which is also an indicator of how much weight they need to lose. I know with my doctor it is usually 2 weeks or less but because my BMI was 60 when I saw his team they said 4 weeks on the liquid diet for me. Also I didn't lose weight on any pre-surgery plan this time. As in last time I lost 35 pounds on the 3 month doctor supervised weight loss program and would have only had to be on the liquid diet for 2 weeks.

I can't explain why every doctors plans are different. My doctor also uses the Bariatric Advantage that @@LadyReyven mentioned but also adds either a cup of skim milk or a banana a day to keep your potassium up. Maybe this is only something they do when you are on it for 4 weeks. They also limit how many of the sugar free popsicles or sugar free Jell-O's I can have. Is that once again because of my BMI? I don't know but it could be.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
