Hi all,

Has anyone ever heard of RAP Protein? I found it in the grocery store yesterday. It's a Protein that are gummies! It has 20 grams of protein and 9 grams of sugar. I wanted to know if anyone tried it.

Thanks

Would absolutely love to hear more about these, especially if someone has tried them. I'm sure they'll have an awful taste but I can suck it up for that little extra boost of Protein.

That sounds like a lot of sugar for that much protein...

I can't speak for other surgeons/bariatric offices but mine told me it's important that anything I eat has less than 5 grams of sugar a serving. Also, Gummy anything does not sit well with the pouch/sleeve. I wouldn't even try it because I'd rather just not risk it and it seems like it's not really worth the possible issues it could cause. Wow 5g seems so low to me. Each office is different. I was told nothing higher than 15g per serving... Most times its less than that. But there have been a few occasions it's reached 15g and I've been fine. No dumping. I have yet to try anything Gummy bc of that concern and I'm four months out. I guess I'll continue with my meats, shakes and bars. Seems to help a lot anyhow.

My nut also said 5 grams in MY serving... Taking into account that what we eat can be way less than a serving as packaged. I haven't tried any gummies to know if it would agree or not.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
