I was banded May 23, 2007 and got my first fill July 3rd. I have just a little bit of restriction. I can eat fine and haven't vomited ever since the band. But I woke up in the middle of the night with pain in the middle of my chest when I layed on it. I didn't think much of it but it was still there when I woke up this morning. It hurts when I breathe and when I bend over. I have no idea if this is related to my band or not. Any suggestions?<!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Definitely call your Doc and run it by him. All unexplained pain should always be checked out. If for nothing else, then your own peace of mind.

I was banded in April, and had a fill in June and one today. While on vacation a few weeks agao I woke up in the middle of the night with a tightness in my chest. I went back to sleep only to wake up an hour later in extreme pain. I thought it was a food blockage, but have had the same thing after returning home. The pain was intense both times and can be equated to an elephant standing on my chest. My doctor asked me today if I had used a straw at all to drink liquids, sure enough, I had both those days. He questioned me about throwing up and coughing up bile, and I had neither of those symtoms. The doctor seems to think I am having trouble with gas.

I will keep u posted.

I was banded May 31, 2007, am 51, banded in Mexico, and I too have had two bouts with chest pain and pain in my jaw. Looked up on WebMD and came up with esopageal spasm. It seems that may have been my problem. What does drinking through a straw have to do with the pain? I drink through a straw all the time. I have lost 36 lbs. so far and am going for my first fill on Wednesday. Also, can I drive myself after a fill?

I think drinking thru a straw is supposed to make you swallow air, and it gets trapped in your chest . You can drive yourself home after a fill it isnt bad at all.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
