Surgery tomorrow 5:30 AM

Recommended Posts

Surgery is tomorrow morning. Im a nervous wreck and I can't figure out if I have everything I need for tomorrow. I am staying a week with my mom since I have a little girl that loves to be carried and cuddle just by me.

Tips to get thru the first week? And when did you guys went back to work. I only have one week off and I'm freaking put its not going to be a lot of time to recover.

Congratulations on your surgery, best wishes for a great outcome. Some people do just fine with just a week off, but 2-4 weeks is probably more reasonable.

Congratulations and best wishes for a speedy recovery!

I am sure your Mum will be a great help and your little girl will be fine, no doubt.

Gentle hugs

Congrats to the newbies! You really don't need much more than the clothes you plan to leave in, and some flip flops. I was only there long enough to be sleeved, wake up, walk, sleep walk some more, pee and leave. You don't really need much. a toothbrush. You'll want to take a toothbrush and a hair brush or a comb. I took off a month. It was heaven. I had a wonderful recovery. A rough 3 or 4 days, but after that, it was awesome. I used that time to not only recover, but to re-learn how to eat, and to do some hiking with the hubs. It was awesome. Oh, I said that already.

How exciting for you!! I only took a week off and it was fine. I have a desk job. Just don't over do it. If you get tired, rest. You won't feel so great the first few days but soon after that you will start feeling better

Good luck to you all. I'm 3 days post op and feel great. Home and resting and drinking fluids. No vomiting. Feel fantastically not hungry at all and ready for my new life to start. So put your nerves and doubts to bed. You're taking good care of your future x

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
