Apologies to the beans

Recommended Posts

Ok I no longer think it's the refried Beans that's causing me the sharp burning pain on the left side of my abdomen. No more Beans. The pain remains.

I realized I wasn't drinking enough Water so I stepped that up and while this helped other issues like peeing much much more, the pain has not gone away.

I'm going to call dr AGAIN tomorrow and see if he continues to ignore me. I've been up most of the night now and am so tired and worn down.

Today I will be 9 days out and it's been a rocky road from the moment I awoke from surgery. I don't need perfect or painless or pleasant. I just need manageable. And I'm not at that place yet.

My doctor is kind of hands off after surgery with some exceptions. However, they have a nurse in place to be the point person. Does your doctors office have a nurse that you can work with or talk to?

I called the main line yesterday and the only weekend option was to page the dr on call who ignored me. I'll just keep trying.

Well I reached my pain limit and went to the ER. They did a CT scan. I have Fluid collected in my abdomen that causes quite a bit of pain especially when drinking all my Water because it just adds more pressure.

Anyone else had this? How long does does it take for the Fluid to re absorb and pain to go away?

I sure hope you get to feeling better soon! I haven't heard of this, but maybe someone else has.

Keep us updated.

Oh no, I'm sorry you're having to deal with this! That sounds like no fun at all. I actually had to keep my drain in until a week after I came home to prevent this very problem. I was absolutely despising my drain but I know why it was necessary. I wish I had some knowledge or experience about it to offer you some comfort, but I don't. It won't last forever! Take care of yourself, take it easy, and feel better soon!

How are you doing Mishi? Any update? I'm having terrible pains in my left side similar to what you described. 4 weeks out and completely miserable. I hope you are doing better.

I'm doing better everyday. The diagnosis has been modified to include some nerve damage where most of the internal sutures were done.

I'm still on pain Meds and lidocaine Patches about a month out but between the two, my pain is now manageable.

I've been told I have a large gallstone that means I'll need my gallbladder removed in a couple months. However I had issues with stones prior to surgery too so no big surprise there.

Overall I'm still happy I had the surgery and believe my health will only get better!

Glad your able to manage the pain better now. I saw my doctor this morning for my pain and she basically laughed and said it happens to some people and other people are just lucky enough to not have excessive pain. Guess we can't all be the lucky ones. I'm going back to work on Friday but not sure how I'll manage through my pain.

I wonder if this is what's happening to me?!? I have a horrible pain inn my lower left side where they pulled my drain. I didn't think my drain was ready to come out, but the doc assured me my numbers were going down and that the body would absorb what was left. The pain is fine when I'm laying on my back, but if I try and sit up it's a searing, catch my breath kind!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
