That is great news. I hope all continues to go well for you.

Also glad to have a better understanding about the gas deal.

What are you using to measure your steps ?

Also. The DR. said the firsdt 2 weeks is rough but damn. Its like every commercial I see is something that I want to eat a buger/ steak something like that!! We went to whole foods yesterday and my kids where hungry so we geot them some of the food they have there thats cooking and selfserve. The smells killing me so I just walked away and started getting some of the broth that we can eat. They have a miso broth that I tried and that was good. what are/did you all eat for 2 weeks besides Protein shakes!

I agree, when I was making progress in my diet, I stayed on liquids for an extra week. After that I went to the soft food, I lived on scrambled eggs and cheese. Good luck!!!!

Rmag, congratulation! You have given your son the biggest and best gift of all...YOU!

It is funny I just saw this topic as I was sitting here thinking about my surgery day. How will it be, will I cry when I say goodbye to my husband? My children are grown so no worries there, but my husband has many reservations about this surgery. He says it just scares him.

I applaud you posting such a tender moment here, you are brave and a real hero to your family.

Keep up the good work. OH and yeah...never trust a fart.

If you're having trouble once you've hit pureed stage, try some Indian food. You will likely get back a more typical bowel cycle, as curry is a natural laxative. I am worried about all the extra oil they sneak in at take out places, but making it yourself at home should take care of that. Failing that, Miralax and Water always do the trick. Additionally, watch out for the possibility that your Multivitamin can cause Constipation.< /p>

Congrats!! Glad all went well. We were told to bring Gas X dissolveables with us to the hospital or to ask for them...they really help the gas move quicker and alleviate the pressure some.

Thanks so much Dancingqueene! I am feeling alot better all is working normal! I am down 20LBS since my surgury date weight thats 20 in just a little over a week!!!! I am walking and just getting outside. Last night was mentally tough. I went to a baseball game and at the statioum all you smell is the foods!! The hambugurgers, fries, and there was a bbq place right next to us it was murder but I drink my shake and followed that with some Water and I was good. The hard part is the smells make you think your hungry but you need to relize your not!!! that is a huge adjustment from my previous days!!

My hubby is the same. He has adjusted a bit to the idea, but I think he still thinks it's too extreme. Even though he has been with me for 47 years and has seen the struggles I've had with weight.

He'll be ok. I found out this evening he has canceled golf for the month after my surgery (Sept 16th), and even canceled going to the casino for the same time! That IS a big deal for him to do.

It's only a week away, I'm starting to feel a little anxious and nervous, but on the other hand if they said to show up tomorrow, I'd be there with bells on!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
