Feeling Tired all The Time

Recommended Posts

So I am almost two weeks post op and it has definitely been an experience. I am getting crazy head hunger and going through a lot of emotions . Anyways one thing that I have been noticing is that I feel tired all the time although I haven't been really active . I mean I have been doing my walking and keeping up with my fluids but after an hour or two of activities ( running errands and etc) I feel worn out and just want to lay down. Despite my weight I have always been an active person . I am one of those people who have a million things going on at once. Am I expecting to much from my body to soon? Has anyone experience fatigue and if so how long till you fully get your energy back up ?

Hey! You're not alone. I'm 3 wks post-op and I'm feeling it too! My goals right now are Water, Protein, Vitamins and a good sleep schedule. I'm hoping it will help. We have to remember we went through a MAJOR surgery. :)

I felt that way for the first 3 to 4 weeks. I took a nap pretty much daily the first 3 weeks definitely. I went back to work at 4 weeks post op and it was a bit of a challenge at times. Now I am 2.5 months out and feel normal as far as energy level goes.

The first two weeks were the worst for me, but then my energy started to return & I have felt great since then. Take it easy and do what you can without pushing too hard. You'll start feeling better soon!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
