Eating food at 10 day post op? Help!

Recommended Posts

Hello! I am almost 10 days post op and i am very confused..i see that most of you have to stay on liquids until day 14 or more, i had surgery done in mexico and my dr's regimen is eating on day 8 so i have been..ex.. an egg white, a little tuna, cottage cheese etc. Therefore i am terribly confused!! I guess all doctors are different but im scared ive damaged my sleeve i feel perfectly fine, i still dont feel that restriction i should feel so at times i stay super hungry..anyone can relate? I need help :/

Every surgeon has a different plan and I would stick with the directions that your surgeon gave you. I can say that my plan is much much stricter then anyone else's here. I am on Liquids for 4 straight weeks. 2 weeks of clears and then 2 weeks of full liquids. My surgeon is very cautious with his sleeves and has an amazing success rate.

If you are feeling unsure you could always make an office appointment with a local surgeon to get their opinion.

My surgeon developed the bariatric programs for both the Cleveland Clinic and the Loyola University Medical Center where I got my sleeve on 12/2/3/2013. He teaches bariatric and robotic surgery at Loyola. He had me on full liquids when I came home on day three. I went to purees at one week, and graduated to soft foods at two weeks. I stayed on soft foods until the end of one month, which was 4 1/2 weeks. I started regular cooked foods then and had no problems.

I think you will feel that restriction more, once you start eating solid food. Your doctor has a reason for his plan, so that is the one you should follow.

newbie - you have NOT damaged your poor little tummy :)

would i lie to you ;)

no way, no how

as you said "all doctors are different" (NUTS too)

you/me/us must follow only our doctors rules

i will never understand why all docs can't have one rule book about WLS

one book docs write and agree on all rules

separate book for sleevers. lappers, gastric bypass and books for all other WLS

info in books to be followed by all docs and patients

life would be so much easier :)

we can only dream

I was supposed to do soft foods at 14 days. But my surgeon (whom I saw 10 days out) told me to go ahead and go to soft then.

Didn't hurt me at all.

:)

There are about a billion post-op protocols that doctors distribute. I dunno why. Maybe it's because they do surgeries in different ways. Who knows.

As I said, didn't hurt me.

mine is similar to yours except I'm on soft foods for 12 weeks then regular foods I just keep eating to fast which hurts .. Could this damage my sleeve?

Kranky, my dr. said the same thing as yours. If you don't mind, I would like to be a buddy with you. Looks like our time of surgery, height and weight are in close running. When was your surgery date? How much did you gain afterwards? How many days into it did you start to lose?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
