"Dont loose too much"

"How much can you eat now"

"Do you feel weak"

"You look old"

And the most annoying

"I liked the way you looked before surgery"

My father told me I needed to think about my son and husband and why couldn't I just live with being heavy or eat less.

I am thinking about my family and being healthier so I can see my grandchildren.

My formerly good friend (one of very few I actually told) said 'Why would you tell me that? I didn't need to know that!'.

'Well I guess I needed to know you're a b***' was my imaginary response. The actual one was closer to 'Just in case you cared'. :)

She acted as if she was uncomfortable with me sharing such a 'personal' information. Fun! I'm so over her.

I haven't told anyone but my immediate family about my surgery so personally I haven't had many of those comments. But I know others who have

Mainly people seem to think that surgery is "cheating" that you could have just exercised and ate less and that was it. Well that doesn't work for everyone. There are people who can do that and be successful long term, but most people can't. How many of us have cut calories, exercised, starved ourselves, only to have lost just a few pounds.

Surgery is just another tool in the battle to loose weight. All the surgery did was change the shape of my stomach. I still decide what goes in my stomach, and I still have to choose to exercise. I can be bad and eat junk post surgery and gain weight, or I can be good and follow the plan and loose weight. The surgery was just a bit of help, most of the work is still up to me

Omg!!! Lol, reading what some people say is hilarious. Otherwise it's sad and hurtful.

People have really only said that they were scared for me. I had to explain. Their has been no wls deaths hospital (so far). My friend is a bill coder at the same hospital and she said that my surgeon is one of the best. I'm in good hands.

I don't understand why you couldn't just have some willpower and shit your mouth.

You don't need to change your diet just get active.

Being overweight isn't the problem it's your attitude and inactive lifestyle. I just want you to be more "fit" and "active". (My ex)

I thought you were fine fat.

Just eat more vegetables.

I'll just fuck the fat off you. :) my personal favorite.

Don't even get me started on the stuff my family said before I was considering surgery!!! About how "worried" they were about me

I actually had two women at the mandatory pre op seminar ask me if someone told me that I needed surgery because I didn't look big enough. Wha???

Oh, my favorite, you're too lazy. You have nothing better to do with your money. Yeah, like I wouldn't rather be sailing the Mediterranean.

"Ok, so you didn't lose the weight by yourself", yes I did. With the use of a tool, but I'm not sitting around eating Twinkies all day.. You must be thinking of liposuction. I didn't go to sleep and wake up 20 lbs lighter.

What do you mean "worried"?

Before I was considering surgery, my family would make comments all the time about how concerned and worried they were about how fat I had become. They were worried about my health etc. my future. How much I ate. They didn't understand why I wouldn't choose to lose weight in a heathy way, likes its so easy...

I keep getting asked how much I've lost and how much I now weigh and what weight did I start at I've never told anyone except my husband and on here I'm just not comfortable answering it as these ppl fat shamed me and just want to know so they can gossip I won't tell I just say a lot and when they still say well I know but how much I repeat a lot and if they dare ask again I say it's not up for discussion it makes me nauseas that I'm past 6 months post op and it's all ppl want to talk about when they see me as if there are no other topics to discuss especially my sister and boss sister is " suddenly so proud of me for losing weight after all this time " apparently even though I've been a good person for 47 years cleaned up her messes time after time raised her child for 4 years helped her escape her abusive husband never been arrested held a job my entire life never in any trouble "finally" I'm worthy of her approval? Hmm was worthless when fat though and saved her ass so many times and never asked for or expected a damn thing in return yeah your welcome! Thank you for for condescending " approval"

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
