Spiceyfrog 269 Posted August 30, 2015 I too was given Protein in the hospital, I actually had to prove that I could tolerate it before I was released. So, as long as you are on liquids and getting in 64 ounces per days, you're doing fine. But, like everyone else said, unbelievable that you were not given more detail on what you should and more importantly should not be eating at this stage. aelovelady 243 Posted August 30, 2015 I am not restricted to anything, at all. I eat sugar, in moderation.
Ourlifecomplete 17 Posted August 30, 2015 I saw a nut once, and it was in the very beginning. If she went over the post diet i dont remember at all. I know we went over pre-op. I was given a pack of papers that say liquids for post op, but that isnt being ver specific. Its a center of excellency so.. Im a little confused. Maybe I skipped some thing... oh well tomorrow is monday. These last few days its not like I have even felt up to caring about what Im eating, not that im actually eating since its all liquids. Ill make sure i know fully what to do from tomorrow on.
kimmoffit 1 Posted August 30, 2015 I had my surgery Monday the 24th too. And I can't seem to tolerate the shakes. They make me sick every time.
geronimo 52 Posted August 30, 2015 I had my surgery Monday the 24th too. And I can't seem to tolerate the shakes. They make me sick every time. What kind/brand are you using? Have you contacted your NUT?

AngelFaye 3 Posted August 31, 2015 Every surgeon seems to have different rules. Mine was Clear liquids (broth and 1 to 1.5 Protein shakes a day) for 1 week. For my second - third week, I could have eggs, cheese and tuna (with a little mayo and relish). I go Wednesday for a follow-up and expect to be given the all clear for high protein/low carb diet. wagyu 50 Posted August 31, 2015 Did you get a nutritional guide from the Nut? That's not good that thy sent you out without one. Every doctor is different on the get go out of the hospital I was on Pureed/ mush. So I could eat soft scrambled eggs and stuff coupled with Protein Shakes and Soups. While other people were on liquids for a long while. You need to check with your doctor.

Dream4tc 192 Posted August 31, 2015 (edited) @@kimmoffit - when you say nothing is coming out, are you constipated ? If you haven't had a BM since surgery, you may need to call your doc Edited August 31, 2015 by Dream4tc
_Kate_ 2,224 Posted August 31, 2015 Geronimo... 900 calories in stage 2 liquids???
geronimo 52 Posted September 1, 2015 (edited) It works out to be something like 860cal if I follow the prescribed diet, but I'm finding I'm not able to get it all in, so calories are probably more like 600-700. They're fine with that, they just want me to focus on the 64oz hydrating fluids first, and then fit in Protein if I can. For the hydrating fluids they said Powerade Zero was best for me, even better than Water.< /p> Edited September 1, 2015 by geronimo
aelovelady 243 Posted September 1, 2015 I was at 300 until week 7. After week 7 about 500 calories.
kimmoffit 1 Posted September 1, 2015 That is good to know because I can't get everything in either and I've been drinking the Powerade zero

Okay, I decided to track myself today in MyFitnessPal - I knew I would be cutting back on the Protein, and I wanted to see what it all would result in. Turns out it was a 391 calorie day, 79g protein, and all 64oz Water (Powerade Zero). So, pretty good day, I think.
