I am seven weeks out and I've been drinking a lot of the Vitamin Water zero recently. In fact, I've been feeling good about how much I am drinking in an effort to get in my fluids. Since it had "zero" in the title and says zero calories, I was surprised to notice just now that it has 5 carbs in each bottle. I've been trying to drink at least two a day while at work (40 ozs) but now am not sure I want 10 carbs a day from these things. But my question is how can something have 5 carbs and zero calories? That makes no sense to me. (Although lots of things make no sense to me that are true.)

The carbs on the label are primarily from erythritol, a sugar alcohol. Erythritol provides just about 0.2 calories per gram of carbohydrate

When a food contains fewer than 5 calories per serving, the manufacturer is allowed to “round down” to 0 on the Nutrition Facts label

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
