Hi Willow!

I had a band to sleeve revision. The band worked well for a short time, but then I kept getting obstructions and I'd have to start at square one. :(

Yes, I'm thrilled at how well I'm doing. :)

What are you going to have done? Best of luck to you! :)

Dubaiboy - Good luck tomorrow!! I'm sure you'll do wonderfully!! :)

Best to all,

Crash

I'm having a band, where I live WLS generally isn't covered by health insurance so I've to self pay so I really need this to work for me! You must be delighted to have it done, I'm finding the run up to surgery quite stressful so can't wait to have it over

Congrats to you all. It's the start to a new life!

Best wishes!

So its 4am here in Dubai. Doctor released me to go home after 6 hours post op. Had a decent night. I'm having soreness but am really worried about band slippage. There's no major pain just abdomen tension. Is this normal ? When do I need to rush and get it checked out?

They should have given you instructions prior to discharge. Rest, hydrate, follow whatever diet they gave you and walk as much and as often as you can.

Good luck!!!!

Better. Stomach abdomen pain is better but the left shoulder is killer. They said its normal due to the co2 that they will your stomach with during surgery.

GOOD LUCK! I was banded 9/11/15 and the only thing that I can complain about is... I got thrush from the antibiotic they gave me during surgery and the shoulder pain which I think is from the port. If you need to chat I'm here :)

Thank you and I hope that shoulder pain will be gone soon. That's probably just gas pains. Thrush problems , that can be resolved with clotrimazole cream or fluconazole tablet.

All the best @byebyefats .

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
