I was taking the Flinstones chewables. I had my first postop visit with my doctor yesterday, and told her how much I hated them. I also questioned why i needed a chewable...when I'm able to take other pills. She finally relented and I can now take one a day. Thank God no more chewables. I also take a tums before every meal.

i Too Take A Flintstones W/iron chewable. I Also Take Caltrate 600 W/vitamin D Chewable Twice A Day. Funny, I Couldn't Stand To Chew The Flintstones Before Being Banded, But Now I Don't Have A Problem. Maybe Its Cause I Am Willing To Put Anything In My Mouth During This liquid Stage.............lol

I take upcal with Vitamin D in powder form twice a day. I get it from the hospital and the cost is about the same as Oscal. What is nice is that I can mix it in anything. There is no taste to it. My multi Vitamin is now Barriatric Essentials that I ordered from Nashua Nutrition. It's a good vitamin in gel pill form. The delivery time is about 4 days and my doctor said it was a good vitamin to take

GNC has a pretty good tasting chewable Vitamin. Easy to chew- just an fyi- don't try their liquid vitamin- the smell is enough to gag you and the taste is worse!

oh, i agree. i thought that a flintstone vitamin would not be enough for me and got the liquid GNC. after day three just the thought of taking it made me want to throw up. that was a wasted 25 dollars!!!

Are we allowed to take a chewable Vitamin right after surgery? I got a bottle of Natures Plus adults chewable. Tastes like pineapple!!

Or do we wait until a different stage?

I take GNC chewable Solotron. It is an adult chewable. They also have a chewable Calcium. Of course I am so dang horrible at remembering them.

I was horrible about remembering too, until I finally realized I had to take them AT WORK. The bottle of Vitamins is sitting on my desk (I am taking a regular Multivitamin now) and this means I will take it at least five days out of seven. My routine at home is so unpredictable I was never taking my vitamins!

You can take chewables any time you want. It's just personal as to whether you feel you need them vs. regular pills.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
