Infused Water

Recommended Posts

My new favorite thing is infused Water.

I ate at a local restaurant last week and the had cantaloupe-infused Water. Since then I have made peach-infused and watermelon-infused water.

I did use green tea with mint in the peach infusion but the others have been just water.

Next time, I plan to use some fresh mint.

If you drink infused water, what is your favorite?

Hibiscus and lime is phenomenal! If I'm feeling particularly like treating myself, I'll put in 1 whole stevia leaf per pitcher.

I have recently just gone nutty over simple lemon Water. I cut up about a half of a lemon and throw it in a full water bottle and leave over night. I just love the bitter twang it gets. I have Water retention issues and lemons are a natural mild diuretic and, maybe it's all in my head, but it seems like it works well with the prescription diuretic I take. I've been considering getting some mint leaves and throwing them in there, too.

I have some dried hibiscus that I got a while ago. I wonder how long it keeps. I'll have to try it.

I am glad you posted this. I purchased a diffuser and put it in the fridge overnight with lemon in the Water and it was too strong for me. I never thought of peach or cantaloupe. It's been on the shelf for 2 months now. I think in part because I am still pre op and have not cut all of the sugary beverages out, so it makes the diffused Water flavor seem week just yet. I am going to give it another try with cantaloupe and peach. Thanks for sharing!

@@Smye - I have seen the sweetener in the groc store, but I have not seen leaves. Where do you get those?

I love lemon Water right now. Before surgery I was drinking cucumber Water all the time. I haven't tried cucumber water lately but I plan to soon.

I agree I really think the lemon water helps not only with water retention but also with being regular.

I've been a big fan of lemon Water, or "spa water" for years. The diuretic effect is noticeable to me too..especially with abdominal bloating!

Okay, help us "slower" folks! Do you have to buy something special to make these?? Or do I just put Water in a container with the other stuff? You all have me wanting to try some and I don't know how!!!

@@mykdzmom, I get them from my garden. But to help make that a reality, you can buy stevia plants at many nurseries. Just be sure to ask one of their master gardeners how to care for it, depending on what region you're in you might be able to set and forget (like where I'm at) or you might have to give daily care and/or special lights etc (like where I grew up).

@@wantingabetterlife - I just put it all in a mesh bag (old, boiled t-shirt or cheesecloth) and pop into a pitcher of Water and let steep in the fridge as long as I want, but there are special bottles, doodads, etc you can buy. I also (depending on what I'm using) just pop water and flavorings into the pitcher and drink around (like with lemons).

Some people also make a concentrate by boiling lemon rind or hibiscus or whatever (like 2 cups or so) and then add the concentrate to a gallon or two of plain Water and refrigerate - this is the fast way but to my taste is only 95% as good

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
