MollyF22 62 Posted March 2, 2016 Hi bcostabiggs! That's exciting to know your going through UC as well. We are definitely here for support. I had my surgery Feb 12th and doing pretty good. Are you having surgery done by Dr. Thompson? They take great care of us.
Bloomer723 75 Posted March 2, 2016 So I got the call today, surgery is scheduled 4/29 that was the first available date. I'm glad to have surgery scheduled but disappointed it's not for 2 more months. I was told Dr. Thompson had more availability when I initially started but now it appears he's busier than Watkins. I asked about switching surgeons and was told I'd have to go through precert again. Frustrating! I was hoping to have lost some significant weight for our trip to Disney in June,. I gotta look at the bright side I guess, what's 2 more months?
iamshazza 41 Posted March 2, 2016 @@tssiemer I'm having mine at West Chester too! I had mine at West Chester on 2/26. They are fantastic :-) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
bcostasbiggs 1 Posted March 2, 2016 I do have Dr Thompson, I met him in Friday, and he seemed really nice. And, I obviously meant I live in the area, not the early. Lol. The facility looks amazing, and it seems like they really care. I started my journey in November.
MollyF22 62 Posted March 3, 2016 Bloomer, it's gonna be okay. It will be here before you know it. Time goes by so fast. You can take this time and enjoy your meals and get ready for it. That's so weird that they are so backed up. I can't believe that in a way. I feel like their adding to many people to their group and maybe getting to backed up. I'm sure you will lose a little weight before Disney. I am so jealous by the way that your going there. My favorite place in the whole world! I can see why your frustrated a bit though. There shouldn't be so many people. Bcostasbiggs, Uc is great. How long do you gotta go for?
kyvsg75 2 Posted March 3, 2016 I'm in Lexington! I thought I wouldn't find another Ky person! Yay. I'm going to St Joe East Bariatrics and haven't been set with a Dr yet. My first visit is 4/25. Sent from my LG-H634 using the BariatricPal App
kyboo1972 90 Posted March 3, 2016 Welcome!! I'm from Ashland... If you have any questions ask....the people here are amazing! I'm coming up on my 3rd month....3 more months and I will be able to have surgery! Time is going fast!
kyvsg75 2 Posted March 3, 2016 Thanks for the support! I have just started and have many insurance hoops to jump through! The first of which is the 6 month Dr supervised weight loss plan! That's gonna be rough! But I know it will be worth it. Thanks again I'm glad to be able to talk to people on different stages of the same journey. Its comforting. ???? bcostasbiggs 1 Posted March 4, 2016 (edited) @@MollyF22 I am self pay, so I haven't had to wait as long as a lot of people. My insurance doesn't cover wls at all. I was ready to do it in November, but I got into a self pay special, so I have to go by their dates. I did a "boot camp" last week that was like 5 hours, met the surgeon, the dietician, physiologist, etc. Sort of got it done in one day, rather than a lot of appointments. So my surgery date is 4/22. I am so ready. Edited March 4, 2016 by bcostasbiggs

MollyF22 62 Posted March 4, 2016 Kyvsg76, I went through this process for about 11 months all together. I had 9 months required for my insurance. It hasn't seemed that long though and it gives you time to prepare. Bcostasbiggs, that sucks that your insurance wouldn't pay but at least your still doing it and getting it done for a good price. Uc is great and West Chester hospital takes really good care of you too. This surgery is definitely harder then what I thought but it's only because I miss food. The day will be here eventually and I can't wait to have normal foods again.
Tssiemer1 549 Posted March 5, 2016 I met with my sleep doctor and she said she wont clear me for surgery for 3 months!! She wants me to use my sleep machine that long!! I pick it up next thursday in tri county. UC WLS said 30 days so I don't know. And if they are already scheduling out 2 months I'm doomed. I'm just so frustrated. Bloomer723 75 Posted March 8, 2016 Bummer Tssiemer! Have you started using the machine? Molly how's it going? Have you returned to work? Bcosta we are a week apart on surgery dates. When are your classes before surgery? We might have one together. Kyvsg any new appointments? Kyboo, you're past the halfway mark now ... Lol
kyboo1972 90 Posted March 8, 2016 Just got back from appointment with nutritionist....lost another 12 lbs for month of February. Total loss is 42 lbs since January!! 3 more visits to go!!
bcostasbiggs 1 Posted March 8, 2016 Hi, Bloomer723! Exciting that our dates are coming up quickly! I have pre-admission testing on Apr 1, and that's it for me. I start the liquid diet on 4/8. That is going to be tough. I am hovering right on the line between the 5 and 6 shakes per day plans, so I'm going to start with 5, and if that absolutely wipes me out, I will probably add another as needed. The way I figure, 800 calories/day is going to be hard, but I am motivated and know I have to do it. I got my bloodwork results yesterday, and everything was fine. So that's good. How many appointments do you have left?
