Well, my one year surgiversary was yesterday... and it passed with no one saying anything. Granted not a lot of people know, but my partner... daughter... mother etc... not a word. I've lost over 150 lbs in this last year... and nothing. Hurt my feelings... and I can't say it to anyone, so saying it here... *sigh* makes me sad...

I'm sorry you feel this way. One thing that I'm beginning to realize is that we are all hypersensitive about weight to some degree. Look at all of the effort we have put into the weight loss surgery and the ongoing journey overall. That just simply isn't the norm for other people.

So, I don't think your family is trying to upset you on purpose. Your surgiversary, is special without a doubt. The first is something that I hope to cherish on Apr 30th, 2016...but I don't want or need their validation when the time comes. I guess what I'm saying is that don't be upset because your family isn't jumping up and down about this. It doesn't mean they don't love you...it's just not on their radar.

I do hope that you will Celebrate your special day if you haven't yet. You've achieved an unremarkable goal that provides inspiration to everyone in the BariatricPal community.

Congratulations on your incredible weight loss, and happy surgiversary!

Why don't you mention it to your family and close friends? I agree with @@AngelaWilliamsMD that it is probably not on their radar. I would bet they will be very happy for you and will give you accolades for your hard work.

I had my surgery in July last year, but to be honest I don't even remember the specific date. I'm sure they are proud and happy about your weightloss, but don't remember the specific date of your surgery.

Happy anniversary! This is our bottle, our personal experience, don't get sad if they don't remember the day. We live it so is the most important thing in our life, they don't go thru what we do! ????????????on the loss!

Woo Hoo! Way to go! Throw a party for those closest to you. When they ask what the occasion is say "me! I'm celebrating one amazing year and want to Celebrate it with you," Or have a thank you party - it's been one year since my surgery, and I couldn't have done it without you."

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
