painkillers after fills - can't swallow pills

Recommended Posts

:help:Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has a solution for what type of painkillers are okay to take once you have restriction. Since my last fill I've found it very uncomfortable to swallow tablets (sometimes, I'm guessing it's the direction they are facing when I swallow?).

I don't take them everyday, but when I get headaches I'm wondering what options there are. I do know tylenol comes in liquid form but I've found it doesn't work for me. Does anyone know if Ibprofen does?

The best thing to do is talk with your Dr. There are liquid pain killers, your Doc will need to call in a script. Also, check with the pharmacist, they are great help for over the counter things. Good Luck. Hope this helps. K.D.

I currently take ibuprofen 800 mg when I have pain, which is a huge pill. Otehrwise CVS pharmacy and Walgreens have their own little pills for long acting pain killers. In the beginning I had trouble taking pills but not anymore. Most of them can be broken down anyway. Good luck

Use Adult liquid tylenol to decrease the pain. I haven't been banded yet but it should go right thru without getting stuck since its in liquid form.

Yes, you can find them in liquids, but they are children's (or Junior) strength. Ask your dr> if there is a prescription strength available. Good luck. Ja9

My doc, Dr. Curry, just emailed me yesterday about this. I had ask him could I take motrin or what should I take for pain. He said that any of them were fine for lapband patients but not gastric bypass patients.
