littlelucy 5 Posted October 19, 2015 Littlelucy welcome! You're doing well! I also have only told my husband and a few close friends - no one at work and not even my parents. All know I'm on a health kick. When people ask what I'm doing I say I've cut a lot of things out So much easier to not tell everyone. I don't want to really talk about it all the time and have people watching my weight loss etc. I'm telling people that I've stopped drinking alcohol for a while and that I'm following a Paleo diet, high Protein etc. I'm feeling much like my old self again now at the 5 weeks post-op. Playing netball again, and trying to fit in a few walks etc. I will really need to focus on Fluid intake though as this warmer weather is a bit taxing if you feel dehydrated. Best of luck for a great day everyone.
littlelucy 5 Posted October 19, 2015 Hey all. Great to hear how everyone is going. I'm 7 weeks post op and can now eat a full diet again. Enjoyed a Caesar salad last night and a bit of steak on Saturday. Lots of chewing but no problem. My stomach really lets me know when I've had enough. The trouble is, it's often before my brain and mouth feels ready. It's a psychological game I think. Also I don't feel hunger, but do get an empty feeling sometimes. It's tempting sometimes to eat the carbs but they really fill you quickly then there is no Protein in - which is much more satisfying. I have increased my exercise. Can't believe I've still only lost 13 kilos - thought it would be much more given that I was 10kilos down in 4 weeks. Anyone further along care to share when/ how the weight loss happened? Im sure if you are doing measurements as well as looking at kgs lost, you would probably find you are losing cms at the moment. A lot of people talk about a stall.... this is probably just that for you. Sounds like you are doing a great job, just hang in there. I'd kill to have a salad, something I've really missed these past few months. I still have to wait a few more weeks.
littlelucy 5 Posted October 19, 2015 I tried to be really organised before surgery, and took some (ghastly) "before photos", took measurements around my waist and upper arms and of course my weight on the scales. Now I'm struggling to remember the measurements I took and can barely bring myself to look at my "before" photos. I'm sure there will come a time when I can handle looking back and not have such a feeling of shame and loathing, but right now I'm enjoying moving as far away from those figures as possible. Enjoy this beautiful sunshine.....
SighMoan 0 Posted October 19, 2015 Hi Everyone! I'm booked in for the 11th December in Brisbane. Just wondering did your doctor or dietician tell you to start the pre-op diet? My doctor hasn't mentioned it and my first appointment with the dietician is just over a week before the surgery. Sort of hoping I won't have to do it at all! I've tried shake diets so many times that the thought is gag inducing haha

NaomiAus 104 Posted October 20, 2015 (edited) Hi Everyone! I'm booked in for the 11th December in Brisbane. Just wondering did your doctor or dietician tell you to start the pre-op diet? I've tried shake diets so many times that the thought is gag inducing haha I'm needing to do 4 weeks of Optifast. It's a little unusual that your not required to do the liquid diet, not unheard of but a little odd, the point of the preop liquid diet is to make surgery safer by shrinking the liver so the surgeon can have better visibility and access to the stomach Edited October 20, 2015 by NaomiAus
