Our scales stopped working and I am not replacing them. I have been obsessed by the numbers in the past, so I don't want to go there again. I will be weighed in two weeks and then every three months at the clinic. I don't want to go through all of those inevitable fluctuation disappointments.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Day 4 of 20 pre-op diet and feeling much better. Headache is just about gone and weight is certainly dropping (even though I know a lot of it is Water weight).

I'm so happy I've found this forum! Good luck ladies who've just had their surgery..... My turn in 17 days :)

Hi, everyone. I've done all my pre-op workups and am now waiting to see the surgeon this Thursday. Hopefully will get a date then. Had to wait a month for this appointment and am getting nervous.

I'm a nurse as well (ICU) so yeah, know all the complications that can happen. Eek. Have told my daughter and husband and a few people at work who've all been very supportive.

Thanks for sharing your experiences, it's great to have other Aussies to talk to!

Hi, I'm also in Sydney. 5 weeks post-op today. I've lost 10kgs altogether. I'm on soft diet this week, but it seems much the same as puree to me. I'm finding it hard to get all my fluids in each day and have to constantly remind myself to drink Water.< /p>

I'm using bio-oil on my op incisions, hoping they will fade out over the next few months. I haven't told any friends about my surgery, just my hubby and close family. It felt too big a deal to be discussing it with too many people. I couldn't face other peoples ideas/questions and opinions.

I am a low BMI sleever and like one of you said I wish there had been another way but after years of trying it just felt right for me to go this path. I'm really happy with my decision, no regrets, just need to adjust to the small amounts of food I can eat now.(i've had a few uncomfortable moments after eating just one mouthful too many). I haven't been shopping yet just wearing all my usual clothes with a few belts hitching in at the waist so my pants stay up. It's amazing the difference 10kgs has already made. I can't imagine how I will feel after another 10kgs disappear.

Hi Froddy - I have family and my best mate in Townsville (I am a Sydney girl currently displaced to London).

I am just over 4 weeks post op, and 12kgs down. The 2 weeks of pre-op diet drove me nuts, but I am onto adding foods and textres in now, thank god for flavour. Desperate for a piece of Vegemite toast, but not for another few weeks.

I got my date today! I'm booked in for the 20th of November. I can't wait. I am needing to do 4 weeks of optimist, so I start that this Friday, anyone else around this date?

4 weeks of pre-op is harsh! At least with the heat turning up you can have chilled shakes. Worst case, blend them with ice and make a smoothie :) Have a last glass of champagne for me on Thursday!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
