Did I drink too much of my protein shake at one sitting

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery 1 week and a day ago, tonight I drank my Premier Protein shake for dinner. I think I may have drank it too fast I finished 3/4 of it in about a half hour. I felt very full and just blah after that. Could I have done any damage to my sleeve or caused a leak by doing this. I did take small sips but I guess not a small as they should be. Has anyone done this in the beginnings? Any help to ease my mind from freaking out would help greatly. Thanks

You are fine. You will get used to when you are full. Even at 3 months sometimes a half of premier Protein drink is enough.

Thanks, was not sure if taking in that much Fluid in a half hour would be dangerous. I hate having to worry about potentially having a leak, that's a scary thing.

I just looked up what causes a leak and it's what the surgeon does, not you. Said the only things that you can do is not follow the doctor's instructions on smoking and taking advil, motrin the first 6 weeks. Google it so you are not worrying so much about it. I had a really easy time and never felt nauseated just that overfull feeling. Hopefully you will too.

Stomachs are made of tough stuff, if the sutures hold early on, the tissues regrow and are stronger at that point than even the rest of the stomach.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
