Hey everyone,

Just wanted to post about how I have been feeling lately. I have been sleeved for over a year (my surgery was June 2014). I am 5'3" and my surgery weight was 262. My current weight is 203 lbs. My lowest weight post surgery was 187 lbs. As you can see, I've gain weight since my surgery and I am starting to feel like a failure. I feel like I should weight much less than I do right now. Does anyone have any advice on how to lose more weight. How have you been successful? Should I be doing something differently? Thanks in advance.

Oh no, I can imagine how disheartening it is to see the pounds slowly creep back up. Have you talked with your nutritionist? Maybe they can offer some specifics that will help for your personal journey. Also, have you made a (not so good) modification to your diet? Im not set for surgery for another month but am currently 285 and 5'2. Stay with onderland! It's no fun on this side!!

By the way you are totally NOT a failure.

If you aren't happy with your progress then yes, you could do something different. But, different from what? You didn't put any details about what you are doing in your post.

Are you reaching your Protein goal every day?

Are you getting in at least 64 oz of Fluid?

Are you tracking your food?

Are you avoiding starches?

Are you exercising?

If you feel like you aren't making the progress you expect, it might be time to go back to basics.

Best of luck.

Stop feeling like a failure and take control. You are the only person that can stop what goes into your mouth and the only one that can make you body move! Brush yourself off and get over the "why me!" Start over you still have your sleeve and you've done good so far. Get back to the basics! You can do it!

What they said! And track everything you put in your mouth. Accountability is key to getting it under control and getting back on track. You can do it, just go back to the basics.

I am actually interested to hear your response. I am currently pre-op but I read every day about someone who gains weight. Or stops losing weight. I am wondering if the other factors that other people mention are there and you are still gaining. Like are you actively trying to lose weight? I am not trying to be offensive and apologize if I come off like a smart ass. I am genuinely curious because I'm sure one day, I could be in your shoes. I know one day I'm gonna have to hit it hard I just want to know its gonna work.

Btw, you would only fail if you gave up. You will be alright! I wish you the best.

Don't let yourself feel like a failure. Where you are at is still much different than where you started. Its hard sometimes to always remain positive, but just do it! Look back at pictures of the former you. Realize how far you have come. You can always get back on track like the others said above. But, don't let yourself feel like a failure!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
