Okay guys, I'm on the last days of my 21 days...I thought that after this I could eat tuna with light mayo mashed very well or those types of things..but turns out I have to do 8 weeks!!!!!! Of only those foods??? Is that even possible?? How can I eat only those types of food for 2 months! That literally seems impossible and I'm really mad, and emotional right now about this..did any of you guys have to do 8 weeks of this??? I feel like no one else had to...

It's very possible. And while it seems a bit more restrictive than most, it's not unheard of. I don't really understand why you're so surprised and upset, though. Is this news? Did the doctor change things up on you after surgery?

All surgeons are different. Like someone said, weren't you aware of this pre surgery? Didn't you have a pre surgery NUT appointment?

For the record, I was on liquids for 6 weeks because of GERD. I much rather would have been able to eat pureeds for 8 weeks!

It's all a matter of perspective. But I also understand it doesn't make it any less annoying :)

That was very similar to my plan, but instead of 8 weeks I only had to do 6.

To me, it looks like you can have tuna and light mayo, you just have to put it in the blender first. If that's the case, you'll be great! It'll seem like the best thing you ever ate after all those liquids.< /p>

Good luck to you. You can do this!

I think you're right but idk if I'd enjoy it blended that much tbh! But do you think I could eat really mashed avocado, since I can eat mashed potatoes?

My suggestion would be to ask these questions to those who have set the restrictions.

They are going to know more details of your situation than anyone here. There may be a reason why you're required to stick to these restrictions.

Having said that, please remember this...

No matter what you have to go thru, it will be well worth the effort. The weeks and weeks of restrictions and such will soon fade into distant memory when the weight starts to come off you...

Stick with it @@confusedgirl18

It'll be worth it when you get there...

I guarantee it...

FYI- Mashed avocados = guacomole. Wholly Guacamole makes some individual serving sizes. Guac and mashed potatoes are both on the same stage of my mushy diet that starts in another 10 or 12 days. Can't wait.

I didn't have to do eight weeks of anything, in fact I was able to move to soft foods faster because I have IBS and I did very poorly with just the liquids the firsT week. My dr was going on vacation and he said I could do soft solids in very small amounts. By the time he returned I was able to try anything that was appealing as long as I chWeed it very carefully.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
