Margie122 845 Posted August 25, 2015 Hello everyone. I was just sleeved on 8/17. I bought a couple of food items from a bariatric store to try them. One was a cream of broccoli Soup and I bought two boxes of bariatric hot chocolate. I also bought unflavored Protein - Syntrax nectar. The Soup was gross. Maybe if I made it with chicken broth instead of Water it could possibly be good. The cocoa was pretty good but it's expensive. My question is - could I just buy a SF cocoa I like and add the unflavored Protein powder to it? Anyone else do this? Any other tips or tricks for getting in enough Protein and not breaking the bank? The Syntrax Nectar was the least expensive unflavored protein option at the store and I had heard good things about it on the board here. 40 servings for $18.

OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted August 25, 2015 Use real cocoa recipes and sub stevia for the sugar. Make with fairlife milk. Real food is more satisfying and better for you.
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted August 25, 2015 Just be careful about the temperatures when adding Protein Powder to hot cocoa, Soup, etc. Most Protein powders will curdle if you put them in a liquid over 130F, so using a food thermometer is critical. You can also try mixing the protein powder separately with lukewarm Water into a kind of slurry, and then stirring that into the hotter liquid. That sometimes prevents curdling.
