Melbournegirl 0 Posted August 24, 2015 Hi All, I'm curious as to how long you've all had off work or are planning to have off work and what the first 7 days post-op was like for you? I work in an office and have minimal walking/physical activity to do during the day and was hoping to return to work 10 days post-op. I wanted to know peoples thought past experiences? american121 14 Posted August 24, 2015 Hi, I'm 9 days post op today and will be heading to work tomorrow. Office work, so I should be fine. The first 3 days are not good. Hard to swallow Water, fatigued, pain, and lots of gas. Walk and sip should be your mantra. Day 4 things start to pick uo. I've gone grocery shopping, cleaned house and sat through a 2 hour movie, with my Protein Water of course. I'll let you know how my first day goes. Good luck! jhclikesshopping@gmail.com 285 Posted August 24, 2015 I am a corporate trainer and when I am not teaching - I do office work. I planned 5 days off with an option for 10 days off. Surgery was Monday and I felt good enough to go back on Friday but I did wait till Monday to go back. I wanted to get back to my routine as soon as possible - I was stir crazy at home. Good luck... my advice, plan 10 days and see how it goes.
TXTinana 269 Posted August 24, 2015 I am 7 days out today and it is my first morning here back at work. I have an office job with minimal physical duty so I feel confident I should be fine. I think if you have a similar job situation you will be fine with only a week off of work. I felt rejuvenated about 4 days post surgery and have been fine since then. Melbournegirl 0 Posted August 24, 2015 Thank you so much for your quick responses. It's really helpful as I am quite concerned regarding how much pain I will be in for the first week.
american121 14 Posted August 24, 2015 Sure. First day was great!
majorsmama 91 Posted August 25, 2015 I took four weeks off, because I could. It's been a much needed vacation. I work in an office as well and realistically would have been fine to go back 3 days post-op. But I had a super easy recovery.
theother_onefoot 122 Posted August 25, 2015 Today was my first day back to school ( surgery 8/17 with TxTinana) and everything was fine except that I got pretty sore by the time my class actually rolled around 6p-8p because I had decided to catch up on some errands through the beginning of the day. I went from 400-550 steps around the house the past couple of days to 2,500 just today. I should have worked up to it more...but no worse for wear except being sore! Beachsprite 118 Posted August 25, 2015 (edited) I booked 2 weeks but things are falling apart and half my team are ill so will go back tomorrow 1 week 1 day. Office work but still struggling to get in what I need to. Edited August 25, 2015 by MsTwist
bengaldude 27 Posted August 25, 2015 Office worker here sleeved in June. I felt pretty good about 4 days after surgery. I took one week off and returned. I found that first week to be difficult because I tired out easily. Sipping Water was a major focus that week.
AmbulanceDude 6 Posted August 25, 2015 I was off two weeks. I too have an office job, but sometimes jump on an ambulance. My doctor made me take two weeks off. Wouldn't sign my release until then. I still can't work on an ambulance for another 3 weeks though. Maybe the temperature will be much cooler then!
_Kate_ 2,224 Posted August 25, 2015 I had 4 weeks off even though my surgery and recovery was good. I was tired all the time. My job is quite stressful and busy so didn't want to go back too early then have to go sick again. Went back to work yesterday but worked from home so not that bad. Went into the office today and did a 10 hour day and now I am in my onesie and curled up on the sofa, knackered!
Hello new me 153 Posted August 25, 2015 I took 2 1/2 weeks off. I have a stressful office job. I needed every minute of my time off. I have been back a couple of days now. I am one tired puppy by the time I get home. With that being said, including my commute back and forth I am gone for 11 hours a day.
