Hi---I just joined

nice website !!

Hey all, I want to introduce me---TERI

Queens NY

I was banded 2 years ago

as part of FDA trials

Very very happy to be banded

Lost 1/2 excess weight which is considered by Bio-E to be successful

I KNOW I never would have lost this weight with out my band.

I was diet weary and sick of the repeated ---Diet / lose it /gain it back/ dieting revolving door.

I also KNOW I never would have kept it off so easily

I do have another 75 to lose

but know it is all excersice now as I have quite a full

fill (at 3.6cc) and have leveled off at about 1100-1300 cal a day

So I know I am not eating any more than when I was losing.

I had a back injury which slowed things down a lot but am starting phys therapy in Sept

so I'll be working on the next 20 to lose by Christmas

does not sound too bad, ey?

Anyway good luck to all,

Smiles

TERI

:)

Hi Teri, welcome! How interesting that you had yours done during the FDA trials. Who was your doctor? Are you still being monitored for long-term results?

my doctor iswas Dan Herron at MT SINAI

they had no support group so I wound up with the group from lenox hill with drs. kurian and roslyn

it is nice as the dr actually come to the meetings

i would still go probably every other month but my work schedule prevents it

DR HERRON has since moved to long island but i have not seen him in awhile peobably six to

8 Months

we (HUSBAND is banded also ---"husbanded..".

LOL WERE

offered to participate in a long term esophagael monitoring study at mt sinai but i am still thinking about it

there might be many scope tests i could not deal with i'

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
