Surgery will be in about 6 weeks so I am looking to try new Protein powders to see which one I like now.

So far I have only tried Chike strawberry and chocolate and I enjoy them but just seeing if anyone else has any good ones to recommend? Plus Chike is pretty pricey :(

I can't drink anything milk-based, so I use nectar fruit flavored ones. I can get them in individual packets & have a variety of flavors. I also use the Nectar unflavored to add to things like yogurt. You can probably find them near you, but nashuanutrition.com has them.

I like Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard, Unjury (especially the chocolate Splendor flavor), Syntrax Matrix, and Syntrax Nectar Sweets. I like Chike too, but all the brands I mentioned do have lower calories, lower carbs, and more Protein than Chike.

@@jane13 If I remember right, Unjury and Syntrax Nectar are 100% whey Protein isolate, Syntrax Matrix is whey protein concentrate, and Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard is a mix of whey protein isolate and whey protein concentrate, but more isolate than concentrate.

I have only tried the unjury chocolate Splendor and I mix it with Fairlife milk, throw in some ice cubes, and mix it in my blender. It tastes like a Wendy's Frosty! Very good! I have the strawberry and vanilla but have not tried them yet. Like you, I am just trying flavors out to see which one to buy since they are expensive. Unjury has sample packets for $1.99 each you can order. Good luck with your weight loss and surgery!

Update: I tried the strawberry, yuck, I choked it down. Yesterday I had the vanilla and put some Jif powdered PB in it, not bad!

Isopure is my go to.

I tried several and they all seemed too sweet. Discovered Naked Protein, mild in flavor and very low calorie. It gave me a nice head start on weight loss in the pre-op. I will continue to use it long term.

Premier Protein ready made shakes are good an I use Precision Engineering Whey Protein Isolate in chocolate and Vanilla. For unflavored, I use Doc Hales Whey-licous.

I still do not like the powder based drinks - I use the premade. My go to is Pure Protein - Cookies and Cream, banana and chocolate are my favorite (check on Amazon - best price I have found).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
