skirby22 1 Posted August 23, 2015 I'm scheduled for surgery September 3rd quit smoking a week ago. Concerned it wasn't soon enough. How long did other people's doctors require they quit before surgery?
Babbs 14,681 Posted August 23, 2015 Mine just urged me to quit, so I did a couple months before. I know some actually do nicotine tests. Do you know if yours does? Because if so, I don't think a week will be enough for the nicotine to get out of your system. If they don't test, then good job on quitting and keep it up! It's such a hard habit to break! Good Luck!
skirby22 1 Posted August 23, 2015 I will be three weeks smoke free by the time my surgery happens. Not sure if he does a nicotine test, I'm just worried about complications.

_Kate_ 2,224 Posted August 23, 2015 @dearliza You can do it! Keep your goal in sight
judyoz 240 Posted August 23, 2015 Three weeks smoke free should not be detectable. You should be fine for surgery physically, but you may cough more than a normal person, post op.
