For those sleeved on or around 7/29/15

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 7/27. I've lost about 24 lbs since surgery. 23 of that was in the first 3 weeks, my scale has been going up and down 1 lb this past week.

My starting weight was 301, day of surgery 276, current weight 252.

I was sleeved on 7/29 and am down just under 15 lbs since surgery. I lost 13.8 in the first 2 weeks and the last 10 days I've been holding steady. I have lost about 2 lbs in the last 10 days but the scale is fluctuating up and down with those 2 lbs depending on the day.

I had heard about the 3 week stall, which is what I am experiencing... but I never knew it would mess with my head so much. I am really concerned about my 1 month post op appt and what my surgeon will say when I've only lost a couple/few pounds since my 2 week post-op appt. ????

Hi, my surgery was completed on 7/31. I am down 17 pounds. But like so many of you, for the last week I've stalled, neither my weight fluctuating by a pound or so. Yes, just like others this is severely messing with my head. I've had times when I wonder have I failed or the surgery didn't "work" for me. I too am worried when I go back to my dr in 2 weeks, though at my first post op appointment he stated that everything was going good

I was sleeved 7/30. I lost 17 lbs since surgery. And yes I too have stalled. Dr was pleased with the loss when I saw him Tuesday. But it does really mess with your head. Am I getting enough Water, protien, now food? ?

But at least we took measurements prior to surgery. I'm down a total of 14 inches!! Made me feel better. I hope now that I'm eating food I will be more regular and start losing.

I was sleeved on 7/29. SW 274 weight before surgery 268 CW 243. So I'm about 25lb down, 15 pounds was lost the 1st week after surgery. I've been stalling this last week but judging from the others post, it's completely normal. I'm not worried at all because after this month I should be cleared to work out in the gym. Good luck everyone!

YES! I was also sleeved on 7/29. I lost 21lbs the first two weeks and have stayed the same since (plus or minus 1lb). I'm worried that at my 1 month check up my surgeon will think I've not been doing my plan! I have done everything to the letter - Protein first then veggies, get my Water in, very low carbs (20 grams a day). Ugh!! I know it's the "three week stall" but it is just really playing with my emotions!

My highest weight was 371, surgery weight 324, current weight 302.

69lbs lost in total, 22lbs since surgery.

I think we just need to keep on with the plan and we'll break through!

I was sleeved on7/27. I've lost 18 lbs and I did stall for about 10 days. Yesterday the stall was broken and I dropped 1.5 lbs overnight. I am happy with my progress and know that slow and steady wins the race. Even while I was stalled I went down a size so I know my sleeve is working. Need to go shopping for new pants soon!

Slsgeek, I was sleeved 7/27 as well. Lost 18 pounds right away, but nothing for two weeks. I think I am shrinking as clothes are fitting differently, but it's so frustrating to not see a change on the scale! Perseverance is the plan I guess!

I was sleeved 7/27 sw:288 cw:268 :) 20lbs lost in 4 weeks. Had a stall in week 3. I wish I didn't wear my clothes so tight before surgery because it's gonna take time to drop sizes lol my clothes fit waaaay more comfortable now!

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
