Yesterday my surgeons office called to tell me that my insurance FINALLY approved my gastric sleeve procedure. I was super excited but now I'm just really nervous. Nervous about the procedure, nervous about the pain, nervous about what it'll be like after, nervous about how much weight I'll lose and how fast.... What if my expectations aren't met, what if this doesn't work???

Any advice, wisdom, or anything would be great!!!

Congratulations on your approval! Funny how it is such a milestone for all of us, it was monumental for me and my nerves have been frayed ever since. I have a bit over 2 weeks and I am finally really getting excited. Best of luck to you on your amazing journey.

Congrats on the approval. And I understand the nervousness, its like wow it just got real. But if you are like me this process has taken awhile. I had to go through a six month supervise diet program. Which help me prepare and research all the information I can about the sleeve. I'm still nervous but I know this is right for me. And any weight I lose is much better than the weight I am now. This forum also helps to answer any questions you might come up with. Good luck and stay positive it will work out.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
