I'm trying to get an idea of how long I will need help after the surgery. She will be 10-13 months when I get the surgery. I'm hearing anything from 2 weeks to 2 months before I could life her. She weighs 20lbs right now I doubt she will weigh more than 25 when I get the surgery.

If it IS 2 months, I have no idea what I'll do. I don't have anyone who can take off that much work. So any suggestions will help! What did those of you with little ones do?

My grandson lived with me and I had surgery on a Monday and was lifting him fine by the following Monday and sitting on floor doing lesson plans with my daycare kiddos. You will be fine. My grandson was one and weighed 20 lbs at the time of my surgery and Dr. Said I could lift up to 25lbs at time of discharge from hospital.

I had RNY, my restriction was 20 pounds for 6 weeks. Take all the help you can get in the beginning. I also had herniarepair at the same time and ended up popping an anchoring suture 11 or 12 weeks after surgery, after being released without restrictions. My advice is if you also have hernia repair wear a belly binder to hold your muscles tight when you lift for sure, if you don't need hernia repair I'd wear one anyway. Good luck!

@@Adrianabelle - I am 5 days out with gastric sleeve plus hernia repair. Drs. orders not to lift a gallon of milk much less a baby. Not only will you not be able to lift your baby, but you will also not be able to go grocery shopping, do laundry, take out the trash, vacuum or many of the other things that we take for granted every day. Of course you can take your chances and it sounds like the results have been mixed from folks having no problems to someone popping their sutures. Does not sound worth the risk to me, but of course its totally your call. Any chance that your baby has another parent who might be able to help you with any of this or are you a single mom?

I'm counting on <2wks to be back up and running. My surgeon says my recovery should be similar to the recovery I had from gall bladder surgery, and I was lifting and carrying my 3 month old who was 10lbs within 2 days of being home without help, as well as doing light cleaning like vacuuming and dusting and dishes within a week and within a few weeks like 2 I think, we were on the road doing a cross country trip. So, I'm thinking it'll be all right, but I think a lot of it depends on your tolerance for pain and your tolerance for recovery. I've always been blessed with easy recoveries. If you are one of those who has trouble healing or in general doesn't recover fast, it might take longer. If there's anyone who offers help, take it. Even if you don't think you need it, help is always nice. Especially when you have to cook meals for people while being post op and the smell of food might make you nauseated.

How about drop in daycare? I was ok after about a week. If she can walk or crawl enough, you'd be ok.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
