I feel great!! I am down 15 lbs!! (The last day i weighed myself was a couple days into my pre op diet). I have very little pain which is awesome!!! :) i can handle about a 1/4 of a cup of chicken broth at a time. Popcicles are good so far. I tried Jello but it didn't settle very well so i will wait on that. Only a few days left and i can switch to the full liquids! Yaaay!! :)

Just wanted to post to show that it's not that bad. I do have some cravings but i think it's just because i know i can't eat it right now. But at least they are healthy cravings ;)

I wish the best of luck to everyone on this journey!!! Keep your eye on the prize!!! :)

That's awesome! I also have a little bit of unsettled feeling with Jello. I just thought it was from the artificial flavors, cuz I also get like that with Crystal Light now (never bothered me before).

I am 10 days out today, and feeling more energetic and just better all-round. I also can drink as usual too (don't have to take little sips anymore), so I have to really remind myself to try to go slower. Started full fluids yesterday, and it was great to have more choices. Am trying to get a minimum of 60g Protein in per day, which is a challenge. Yay for Protein shakes, and also yay for powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup flavor Protein powder! That's lunch every day.

I couldn't find anywhere that sold it here in Regina, so I ordered it from their website. Their Protein powders are really nice tasting. I have tried the chocolate Splendor and the chicken Soup flavors so far. I have heard others say they really like the Orange flavor, but I haven't tried it. I always use the little thermometer they sent along with the chicken Soup flavor to make sure that my Water is not over 140 degrees. Apparently it will curdle like cooked egg whites if you put it into Water that's too hot. Their site also has some recipe ideas for the Protein shakes. They also sell some protein Snacks which I plan to order next. They are pretty expensive - works out to about $2 per bar. I have to keep reminding myself that my favorite chips are around $3 per bag, so it's not such a bad choice. Will let you know how they taste.

I would call just to be sure everything is ok. Better safe than sorry. And i didn't have any weight loss for a few days and then all of a sudden it started coming off. I am now 25lbs down. I try to walk often which really helps. It might be the gas pain that you are feeling. Have you tried gasx strips?? They are a life saver!! So is walking. It will make you feel so much better!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
