jamiep1108 0 Posted August 26, 2015 PS I would love to make some friends to talk to through this journey. Anyone else just starting out?I am.... I also just started the process. I had by consultation with the nurse and the nutritionist. I have a long wait to see the surgeon. Not until Oct 16. That's the earliest appointment they have. Which is so long. But I guess the waiting begins.
dmc7399 2 Posted August 26, 2015 Yeah that definitely has to be the hardest part. I wish they would consider this something that needs to be treated right away, because it really is. But good luck, we can help each other stay patient
MOMMAMIN1 80 Posted August 26, 2015 PS I would love to make some friends to talk to through this journey. Anyone else just starting out? I have a consultation appointment tomorrow. dmc7399 2 Posted August 26, 2015 So what all have you done so far? I'm just waiting for appointment number 2 where I talk to an instance specialist
MOMMAMIN1 80 Posted August 26, 2015 I have completed nutrition classes and received all clearances required. My last step is to schedule an EGD but was told this needed to be done no sooner than 30 days of surgery. I consult with the surgeon tomorrow, and am awaiting their call to know what to expect from this visit. I received a phone call today to schedule my pre-op nutrition class, yet I have not even had consultation with the surgeon yet. So I am a little nervous/anxious that they will want to pick a surgery date tomorrow! I actually started most of this due to my diabetic health. After all attempts it was suggested to do surgery. So my process with WLS was short so far as I had already completed most requirements.
dmc7399 2 Posted August 26, 2015 Fortunately my insurance does not require any pre surgery weight loss plans. Unfortunately they only pay half. But this is exciting! Scheduling your surgery date really sets it in stone and makes this whole thing real!
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted August 26, 2015 Wow, this was incredibly inspiring, thank you so much! I am going tomorrow to see how much I can get from my car title at title max Oops-- I posted without thinking. Not a good idae sorry for the response I just deleted if you saw it. Don't do something rash. Make sur you think through how you get the money very carefully. A title loan is probably not the best way to go.
dmc7399 2 Posted August 26, 2015 I didn't see it but now I'm curious lol. I know title loans of scams but I don't have a lot of option, or any options really and I'm so scared I won't be around for my son if I don't get this done.

Will you have access to other insurance options when open enrollment starts?
dmc7399 2 Posted August 26, 2015 I'm not sure. We qualified for Medicaid when I was pregnant and we still make about the same amount of money so maybe Medicaid. I just haven't looked into since we got BCBS from my husband's job...
Jessica Ellison-Correa 66 Posted August 28, 2015 @@dmc7399 have you considered going to mexico i know there are a lot of people on this site that have gone and have had great results and speak very highly of the facilities theres a whole thread on it on this site. it only costs like 5 grand as opposed to the us where the surgery can be upwards of 20 grand and that doesnt include hospital stays or visits to the surgeon or the tests you need to get the procedure. just something to look into
dmc7399 2 Posted August 28, 2015 I will definitely do that if I need to, I have a friend that loved her Mexico experience. But I'm hoping the insurance will pay everything and I can make payments to them. But I don't even have 5 grand for Mexico. And I'm pretty sure they don't accept payment plans.
