Super lighheaded and exhausted

Recommended Posts

Im 1 week out.

Since surgery, Ive been able to add yogurt and more milk products. However, Ive been extremely lightheaded, exhausted and dizzy the last 2 days. My lips even feel tingly when Im up or move too fast. I also have diarrhea with bad cramps. Im not complaining too much about that bc I havent gone since before surgery. But my question is- how do you know you are lactose intolerant? I had a small cheat today. The kids had tacos so I had a tiny bit of sour cream, cheese and some taco meat flavoring. I instantly got cramps. I am wondering if its bc I did that (I mashed it up very well and ate slow, it was maybe an ounce worth) or if its bc Im lactose intolerant. I have also seen that this could be signs of anemia. What can I take for that? Im going to call my surgeons office tomorrow but wanted to check here first...any ideas?

Make sure you are getting your liquids in. Sounds like dehydration. The surgery won't make you lactose intolerant, either you were before surgery or you weren't. You probably cannot tolerate those foods yet, dairy is heavy. I would try again further out. Exhaustion is normal 1 week out, especially if you are not getting in enough fluids.

Thank you! Thats so good to know that the surgery cant cause lactose intolerance. I cant wait to be further in...this recovery has been a rollercoaster!

It can. I am the same. Milk is broken down by certain enzymes if u don't have much in your body it's harder to digest the stomach helps the gut by starting the breakdown process. If the stomach can no longer do this and you gut can't handle it whole it can happen. Also the enzyme production can he trummaed in to stop producing. For example I am lactose intolerant when pregnant until about 3 months after. Then production of lactese gets going again and I don't have extreme runs n gas when I have dairy in fact I'm fine. I am slightly gutted it's come back. But hopefully a few months down the track it will be OK.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
