LadiSani 59 Posted August 22, 2015 (edited) Waiting for the insurance approval and went to the doctor for an unrelated issue. Ended up getting some modern done and revealed a high blood sugar. Now I'm scared the pre-op testing is going to reveal more and postpone the sugery. Had this happened to anyone else? WorkinOnMe 596 Posted August 22, 2015 I would't worry too much. All my pre-op blood work showed high sugar levels. I am diabetic with high glucose levels and that is the primary reason for my sleeve. I came out of surgery and 2 hours later my sugar was in the normal range. It has not gone higher than 120 since my surgery. That said, I wouldn't necessarily take medical advice from strangers on here. When in doubt, call your surgeon and ask.
tera1982 194 Posted August 22, 2015 I had a surgery date set(September 1st), had my final appointment with anesthesia(I'm considered HIGH risk because of my type-1 diabetes), and my A1C was elevated, even with the supervised diet. They wanted to postpone surgery, but I explained to surgeon that my blood glucose levels are ALWAYS high, hence the need for surgery. He said he would agree(after much convincing on my part) and now just waiting for the anesthesiologist to agree. Fingers crossed I can keep my original date! Hope all goes well for you!!!
