That is a very bad idea. You have to get out of the old "quick fix diet" mentality and start getting your head around this life change. The best thing you can do is concentrate on making new habits - small bites, eating slowly, cutting down on caffeine, cutting out carbonation, etc. Not all at once. Try one for 2 weeks and then add another new habit the next 2 weeks and then another and another. Are you required to lose a certain amount of weight pre-op? Have you met with nutritionist or therapist yet? Those are the things you need to focus on. Therapy is number one in my opinion. Had another appt today myself and I leave there every time realizing that without her, I would absolutely not be getting through this.

@@magicalwoman I did it a few years ago and it was THE stupidest thing I have ever done to try to lose weight. I was prescribed it by a DR. I literally starved myself, that's what you do starve yourself so yes I lost like 30 lbs in a month but I gained it all back plus some and had horrible leg craps for months afterwards.....stupid, stupid, stupid!

I don't want anyone to think I am using it.

I agree it is not a great idea, quick weight loss, but not lasting.

I am doing pretty good with my lemon Water, Jello cups, Protein shakes and lean cusine dinner or the likes.

I'm lucky, I don't really like sweets, I do not like chocolate, I do not drink soda, however my worst habit (hard to break) I eat fast. I try try try to slow down, but it is so hard.

I did in the past try HCG, but had no luck and never stuck with it.

Just wondered.

I did the HCG diet before my wedding (way before I even thought of having surgery). I lost around 25lbs but I gained that weight back quickly and then some. I swear I gained it faster than I lost it and I was losing at least a pound a day on that diet.

I don't want to sound preachy and I definitely don't judge people for their decisions but why were you thinking about doing it? I mean, on this journey we are learning how to change the way we eat and "quick fix" weight loss plan isn't the right way to go about it. That's just my line of thought.

I totally agree, but being honest and thinking about it....how many of us have tried every weight loss product, fad, and idea out there. Every juice, pill and food.

Calories, carbs, Proteins...we've done it all. But Wheezysmom is so right, when it comes down to it, weight loss is not a quick fix, it is a life style and behavior.

This is not only a weight loss journey, it is a discovery!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
