I was told after my endoscopy that I had one. Then after my upper GI was told I did not have one. Surgeon found a small one when doing my sleeve and fixed it. He told me it was not uncommon to do the fix during surgery.

My surgion said he will fix mine. It seems pretty common. I wonder if its common in over weight people or maybe mothers??

I also have one discovered when doing my upper gi and dr is going to fix it during surgery. My nutritionist said it's common for people who eat quickly and don't chew their food well. Haven't done any research on it. I've had other hernia surgeries in past. Such a common fix =)

It's very common in those who are overweight but also in women who have been pregnant. The increased pressure on the abdomen can lead to hiatal hernia especially.

I'm having my Upper GI soon and I am about 98% sure they will find I have a hiatal hernia. My surgeon says it is his policy to always repair hernias when he operates.
