POSE2VSG 5 Posted August 21, 2015 I don't like that term but don't really know how else to word it. I sure don't FEEL like a lightweight. I have 60-70 to lose and its 90% in my stomach so I feel like I need to lose much more, meaning I just feel like I'm heavier than I am due to fat location. ANYWAY! Just trying to see how those who didn't have 100 or more to lose have done. TIA!!
amazon 579 Posted August 21, 2015 I did. I had less than 100lbs to lose. Took about 11 months. It's really up to you. Follow your plan and it will happen. Everyone is different, so you can't compare your progress to others. You've found a great place for support too. But work your sleeve and you'll get there :-)
POSE2VSG 5 Posted August 21, 2015 Thanks Amazon! Yes, we are all so different. I, myself, have PCOS and have gained weight REALLY fast this year. Which is what prompted me to have the surgery now. I had POSE (it's in fda trials now) back in 2011 at 230 lbs. I lost down to 168 but never got below that. POSE is sooooo not close to the restriction that you get from sleeve but back then being cash pay I was scared to do the sleeve. Well, fast forward 4 years, a baby, fighting weight gain for about 2 years but kept it off and then BAM! Blink my eyes and 30 lbs back on me since March. So..I know I've got some issues working against me but I also know my stomach is stretched back out and I'm not satisfied on the smaller portions any longer. I also have my head wrapped around the fact that if I push it, I'll regain again and I refuse to do that. This is it for me so I'm praying all goes well and I'll get to goal and be grown up enough to keep myself there However, it is good to see those without 100 or more to lose hitting their goal because I know we don't lose as fast as those with over 100 to lose so I wondered if that affected the end result. Beachsprite 118 Posted August 21, 2015 My surgeon told me statistically that the lighter you start thus journey the more chance you have if hitting the healthy bmi range. He often operates on those heading around 60bmi in the public system and they do less well than someone around the 40 bmi mark. Of course he sees the opposite occur but typically those are the results
glitterpockets 85 Posted August 21, 2015 Excellent question! I have 80-100lbs to lose myself & most is in my tummy as well. I feel like I'm pregnant when I'm not & its even hurting my back.

POSE2VSG 5 Posted August 22, 2015 That's amazing!!! Thank you all for responding! Gotta get myself mentally prepared. So scared of everything like complications from surgery, what if I have other health problems to deal with after sleeve, the mental issues that come with losing food as comfort. Still have to quit smoking before surgery. But, Monday, I lay the cigarettes down and start eating low carb. Surgery will be the next Tuesday. Just praying I can do those two things and get through with no complications and get my life changed for the better.
raylene76 20 Posted August 22, 2015 @@POSE2VSG You can do this. Trust me if I can anyone can. I'm scheduled to have surgery in October and I quit smoking cold turkey two weeks ago. It hasn't been easy and I've slipped and had one or two but you can do it. We can do it. It is all about getting healthy Good luck!!!!
cindyw41 761 Posted August 22, 2015 (edited) I had someone tell me yesterday "well, you don't weigh that much". I have 70+ lbs to lose. And frankly at this point I don't care what others think. Edited August 23, 2015 by cindyw41
46soon 21 Posted August 23, 2015 I don't feel like a light weight since I put on 20 pounds this year but I have approx. 80 pounds to lose. I'm doing my 2 week post op liver reduction Protein diet. I'm struggling on that and that really scares me. I have not been perfect. Especially today. I seem to be depressed or anxious or something. Am I really going to miss my "frenemy" food that much? I am seeing a therapist to work on these issues since I guess I do not have a healthy relationship with food. Surgery date is September 2nd and I'm nervous. I'm glad I found this website though. I think this will be a good resource and have "friended" people with similar histories or surgery dates.
tbmichals 12 Posted August 24, 2015 I want to lose 80lbs. I'm the heaviest I've ever been. Tired of my feet hurting, getting winded, overall looking and feeling bad. Can't wait to get a surgery date!

laceemouse 631 Posted October 8, 2016 Does it make a difference what size sleeve u have Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App As far as I know, you don't choose the size of your sleeve, the surgeon makes that decision once in there. People with less to lose tend to lose much less the first few weeks and lose more slowly. Meeting "goal" has a lot of variables, but it helps to remember that the more someone has to lose the more loose skin they end up with (usually) and that skin does have weight, though generally not as much as people think. Also, if a person has been extremely overweight for a long period of time their bones become more dense to support their weight. So, their bones actually weigh more. And muscle weight more than fat. So getting down to a certain BMI doesn't really tell you much, there are so many other factors to consider.
aligator517 60 Posted October 8, 2016 I was at a 40 bmi when I got a surgery date, lost 10 pounds in the two week pre-op diet bringing me to about a 35 bmi. I've lost another 14 pounds since surgery four weeks ago, so I'm creeping closer to a healthy bmi. Total I want to lose is 75 pounds, and so far so good. I understand it might not be so fast, but slow and steady wins the race-this is absolutely a marathon and not a sprint!!! I also have PCOS so this is an important lifetime support for me to control something I otherwise can't. Very happy with my decision and looking forward to finishing the next two weeks and getting back to Orange Theory for a more intense workout!
