sa11yb 7 Posted August 26, 2015 Yes. Protein shakes 3 times a day and all the Clear liquids I can stand. I start tomorrow and feel confident about success with it. Wow, I am on 2 Protein Shakes a day and am allowed 1 light meal like lean chicken breast and green Beans. Oh I can have string cheese for a snack too. Off the caffeine, 1 cup green tea in morning then Water rest of day

Wassef 15 Posted August 27, 2015 Sept 16th for me. I don't have to do any pre-op special diet, but may do a couple days just to clean myself out. Hi Toler, Well the special diet is for your own sake, but no need for severe restriction. I was restricted from Carbohydrates, and increased Protein intake. This diet has 2 benefits: * It will allow for your liver to shrink in size, therefore allowing the surgeon to be more comfortable during your operation, therefore better result and less complications. * the high Protein will promote faster healing of your wounds. Best of luck in your operation.
sa11yb 7 Posted August 27, 2015 Wassef is correct, the high Protein pre-op diet is to shrink your liver. Every surgeon is different as to what they prefer. At this pre-op stage, if I had to do Protein drinks 3x a day for 2 weeks, I would be pretty darn hangry lol.

pindoctor 49 Posted August 28, 2015 I am so frustrated right now. I have been planning my surgery since last Oct and had my pre-op on July 17. On that date day I got my surgery date of Sept 2. On Aug 5 they submitted all my stuff for preauthorization and here I am Aug 26 1 week preop, halfway through the liquid diet. My insurance company hasn't made a decision and furthermore they had no idea when they would have an answer. I have taken the time off work and have to request time off 30 days in advance. I feel like I am totally screwed and all my carefully laid out plans are coming apart. Any suggestions?
