And what is up with the almost constant "lump in my throat" ?

It's not an actual LUMP ... More like the feeling....

I wonder ... is that the new feeling of hunger?

It's not a burp ...

Hard to explain to anyone in my life who isn't going through what I am ...

So I'm asking the experts!

@@MrsKarenC2008 - I only get that "lump" sensation when I have ate one too many bites of food <ouch>.

I have done that twice. I hope to never to it again either.

I had that feeling for a month or two after surgery, particularly when I tried to drink without a straw. I didn't notice when it went away, but just one day I realized it wasn't there anymore.

@@AvaFern ... I also asked a few days ago about the straw rule ... and so many people said it was okay .... I was thrilled ! Maybe that is my problem ...

Thank you so much !

I don't know how far post op you are but that is the feeling of food or Fluid in your pouch or esophagus. You need to take in fluids/food slowly enough so that it can pass into the small bowel before you take more. This is especially true with food. There is only so much room and when it gets filled up it backs up and is very uncomfortable. You'll learn.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
