I have a BMI OF 37. I have BCBS. I have slightly high blood pressure but that’s it. I was approved rather quickly.

Thanks! I am approved! On August 2 I will have my 2nd appt. and get my surgery date! I can NOT wait. Just had an appointment with bone and joint dr. My knees are in bad shape - osteo arthritis. Just one more confirmation that I am doing the right thing. Do you know when you will have surgery?

Good Morning!

Has anyone else been journaling to help stay on track? I have recently discovered the "Bullet Journal" trend. I am thinking this practice may really help me - not just with the weight loss but my other goals to be organized and use my time effectively. Tons of great ideas on line have gotten me inspired!

Well@dutchamy I hadn't gotten back to you and I do apologize. Yes I did get my,date on 7/17/2018 and not as soon as I had hoped for, with vacations etc. it is September 5th At 7 AM. My Bariatric Hospital gives you a choice of 2, 3, or 4 weeks on their plan.I decided to start the beginning of August and give myself the best boost possible, at 72 this is going to be my one and only foray into Bariatrics.

Reading as much as I can Yes I know all about the basic concepts but reading how other people handled the inevitable stressors they encountered. Yes I remain committed and optimistic, but it wil be such a drastic change albeit a great one. Trying to retain peace in my soul, a smile on my face and a happy disposition no matter what comes. I am and will remain a work in progress, none of us really know how our story will end, we just keep writing as we go.

Your wisdom is inspiring! In terms of your mindset- obviously- you got this! Strong women rock!

What is your eating like right now? I keep trying to do a liquid diet for two meals and small Protein dinner, just to get my self ready and heading in the right direction - but I keep slipping up.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
