I'm 57 and 6 months post op. I'm down 95 pounds. I lost 50 pounds before the surgery and another 45 since. Slow and steady now, but I know I should exercise more. Now that I'm much smaller, I've got more energy and not feeling I need to restrict activities because of my size. My plan is to start training to run a 5k (and then 10k). Also thinking about tap dancing??

56 here, 2 months post op, lost 18lbs before surgery, and only down 26lbs, it's frustrating and I'm hoping it'll get better soon.

So far steady, I lost 4 more lbs this month, my family doctor says it's fine as I'm loosing, before I wasn't, plus I'm post menapausal which makes it a bit harder to loose compared to those in their 20s or 30s.

slow and steady will win this race, at least my skin will have a chance to shrink with the weight lose ?

I constantly run into Sleevers in their 50s and 60s but I would love to get to know some of you who are bypassers. Seems our life experiences and potential difficulties may make us good support for each other! (You know, little things like menopause, arthritis, etc...). Please come out of "hiding" and gather here. I need to see yall in action! And would love to support you as well!

I'm here! But I'm at the beginning of my journey with my first surgeon appointment April 18, 2017. I'm post-menopause at age 56 as well, so this should be interesting. :)

I'm 56 and post menapausal, loosing the weight even with a gastric bypass is very hard, I fight and struggle for every single pound lost.

3months and 30lbs down, the first 20 was within the first month, then 5 lbs per month.

but it's better then no weight lose :) guess slow and steady will be the norm for me

Well, there's also the hunger factor too, so I'm assuming from what I've read that the bypass helps with that as well. And I mean actual hunger, not appetite.. the latter of which I'm also understanding is a thinking re-set thing. :) But yeah, slow and steady isn't a bad thing for sure.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
