Hengirl 26 Posted August 21, 2015 I weigh myself every morning before showering and record it too. I don't worry about each day's numbers. I like looking at the graph in MFP showing progress. It is for "scientific" interest for me. No patterns have emerged, but I am fascinated nonetheless!
Sharon1964 2,530 Posted August 21, 2015 I'm 13 days out from surgery, and I'm still losing every day. I'm weighing every day and updating my weight here so I can see the graph. My plan is, if I get to a stall, I'll drop back to weighing perhaps twice a week. Right now, daily weighing is working for me. I expect that will likely change. AvaFern 3,516 Posted August 21, 2015 I weigh everyday on two separate scales and I write it down in a calendar. I have weighed everyday almost my entire adult life, except when I stopped doing it are consistently the times I gained weight. This morning I gained a pound because I ate more yesterday than I usually do, so now I know today I need to tone it back a bit. It is far easier to lose a few pounds that you gain in a week or so than it is to lose 10 if you only weigh once a month. There are days where I wake up and I dread the scale and usually it isn't as bad as I think it will be. The scale every morning keeps me accountable.
George_NJ 13 Posted August 21, 2015 I do it just about everyday, I do forget sometimes. The fluctuations I understand why they are there. The morning scale routine is just another tool at keeping my eating & weight on my mental radar throughout the day, in theory at least
kathysleeve 38 Posted August 21, 2015 I agree I weigh in almost every day so there are no surprises but if I am up a pound or. Two and I know I am eating right I don't worry about the scale. But woe when those clothes start to fall off you, that's a great feeling.
TammyDTM 391 Posted August 21, 2015 I weigh every morning and record it on the calendar in my bathroom. It keeps me motivated and determined to keep doing what is right so that I will reach my goal.
violetroyalty 25 Posted August 21, 2015 I try not to but I've noticed I'm weighing myself everyday, I'll try not to tho I feel is not very good for me, I like to see weekly results and NSV
WorkinOnMe 596 Posted August 21, 2015 I weigh only once a week ... sometimes even less. I can't keep myself from going into that really dark place if I see the scale go up & down each day. I try to use NSV to help me feel better about the slow times & weighing once a week still keeps me accountable.
glitter eyes 1,398 Posted August 22, 2015 I have done it both ways. In the beginning during the time I was losing fast I only weighed once a week or every two weeks. Now that I am trying to just maintain I weigh everyday. I find this keeps me accountable and if I see the number go up a pound or two I cut back for a few days or change up my exercise. maggie409 765 Posted August 22, 2015 I started out only weighing weekly. Here lately I weigh daily. Of course I understand there will be fluctuations. I only write down my weight once a week. I do only measure once a month. Right after surgery I lost 3 pounds a week a few times but since then I have consistently lost 1 to 2 pounds a week. It has been a gradual progression. I'm happy with any loss. My goal is to be at onederland by the new year. So far I am 38 pounds down. However often you weigh, don't let the scale get you down. Jovie62 135 Posted August 22, 2015 I weigh every day. It keeps me accountable. But I also know that if I trust my plan it will work. Plus I'm very competitive, even with myself, and it's just about football season! Go Broncos!
Mistie 201 Posted August 22, 2015 When I first started trying to lose weight (actually TRYING, like seriously putting effort into it) a few years ago, I started weighing daily, and kept up the habit. I weigh daily and log it into my LoseIt! app. I also log all food/drinks I consume. When I wasn't actively trying to lose weight, I did it out of habit. Now that I'm active again (prepping for surgery in a few months), there are benefits. The benefit to this is if I'm up one day, sometimes I can go back and see what 'types' of food my body responds to (my body does not like white bread, lol). I can also see what food my body appreciates. I also know, however, that weight fluctuates. I know, for example, that after I have a day at Water aerobics after not being there for a few weeks, it will show up on the scales, so do not freak out. For me, it holds me accountable. If I did not weight for a week or more, I would be more likely to cheat, thinking, "I can get any weight I gain back off before I weigh again." Weighing daily, not as likely to do this. Now that I'm changing my habits, this is not as likely, of course, but, it still holds me accountable. I also like seeing those numbers dropping as I move toward surgery
motivatedsabby 2 Posted August 22, 2015 I stay away from daily. I weigh in every Monday. Makes me be extra careful over the weekend.
