Do you weigh yourself everyday? Bad/good?

Recommended Posts

So I think I did something wrong I weigh myself everyday. I stepped on the scale today 2 lbs heavier from yesterday. How... Is this possible ????? Anyways do you step on it everyday? Should we ? Shouldn't we? Once a week? What do you think

If getting on the scale every day has the ability to ruin your whole day and cause you to obsess about just the numbers: Bad

If you can get on the scale every day and understand that fluctuations and stalls are a normal part of the whole process: Good

I weigh myself daily, and sometimes am up. I only log my weight once weekly though which keeps me from getting discouraged.

I weighed every day - it drove me absolutely bat$hit crazy. My husband hid the scale from me and brought it out once per week - that saved my sanity.

I also took my measurements - neck, biceps, chest, waist, hips, thighs and calves. I also did a photo journal. Those helped me so much during stalls.

Your body is recovering from major surgery. You've limited calories to virtually nothing. It's trying to figure out what you just did to it. Be kind to your body - it will catch up, I promise.

Hahahah yes weighing everyday is driving me absolutely crazy. I think I'll do once a week. It takes a lot of power to weigh everyday and not worry.

Every day would drive me nuts. I weigh once a week. Same day, same time, same clothes.

I do this both ways! Sometimes I have my family hide the scale when I become too obsessed! Then other times I like to see the progress which does both negative and positive for me! I love seeing it move down but when it goes up I question what I did different. I think sometimes it helps me to be more aware of what foods work well for my weight loss and which ones do not!

My 1st week post-op, it was a cold and rainy December and I was trapped in the house. So, I needed entertainment.

I'd weigh right when I got up, then before a pee, after a pee, before a poop, after a poop, in the evening and again before bed. I just didn't let myself take it too serious.

I started out with the ground rule that only the 1st weigh in (when I woke up) counted. The rest had too many variables that could affect my weight - intake of solid food, Water, salt content, how much I sweated.... ect. Have a good time with it.

as a junkie (scale junkie) its easy to get really bent out of shape about what the scale reads day to day, hour to hour, minute to minute....

your weight fluctuates throughout the day...

IMO~~~~ Pick one day a week and weigh. Then weigh next week, wearing roughly the same thing (birthday suit :D), on the same day of the week. I think if you see a trend that the scale is moving in the wrong direction on about the third weigh-in then you need to STOP and evaluate and record everything you eat. Something is off.

I weigh everyday (almost) first thing after my trip to the bathroom. I wait a few minutes and weigh again. I take the second weight as THE weight for the day. Today it was 211.5, which is up 1.5 from Monday (Labor Day Challenge).

I wasn't too happy with that, but I also know I have hit the pretzel chips one too many times and had some salty fried chicken livers (4pcs) from KFC last night. Hubby is out of town and I have been winging it for dinner at night for me and adult son who lives at home. Today is a Water, Water, water, walk, walk, walk day...so daily weigh ins keep me "in-check" for revisiting what I ate and maybe next time I will make a better food choice :D

I weigh myself every day, first thing in the morning. I only record my weight on Monday mornings. Pre-surgery, I weighed everyday and the number on the scale had the ability to ruin my day. I no longer allow the scale to control me. It is just another tool. I also try on a smaller pair of pants every couple of days as well. Again it is just a tool.

I completely agree with @Babbs.

I weigh every morning I'm home, in the morning after going to the bathroom and with no clothes or jewelry on. It's a long-time ritual.

It doesn't freak me out. And I certainly don't weigh throughout the day.

I've observed over the years that when I don't do weigh daily I don't weigh weekly or even monthly -- and that's when things get out of hand.

So weighing daily helps me be mindful and doesn't weird me out.

Your mileage may vary.

I weigh myself everyday, it would bother me more to have to wait for a week. I only count the weekly weight to determine if i am losing.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
