Oh...

I saw the heading 'Carbs" and raced in here because I thought someone may have had Doritos...

Never mind...

Move along...

There's nothing to see here...

Lol. The above response was funny.

Actually I have wondered the daily carb and sugar limit. I don't got for my pre surgery nutrition info until Sept 3rd. I was hoping to do some meal planning.

I try to stay between 20-25g and most carbs are natural carbs

I usually eat between 1500 and 2000 calories a day. I don't really have a carb limit. I try to eat 75% Protein and the rest in carbs (from vegetables and fruit). I choose not to eat processed foods and pure sugar. I do eat things like Raisin Bran, the occasional do-nut, and "fun size" candy bars (but not on a daily basis).

I don't keep a running carb count in my head. I just watch the scale and if I see it going up, I stop eating the processed carbs and sugar for a while. That works for keeping my weight in check.

Shortly after surgery I limited mine to 20-25 and I didn't feel good; I was tired and didn't have any energy. Getting thru a workout was torture! It was trial and error for me and I settled in at 35. I was also working out a lot. I couldn't tolerate refined carbs like bread or Pasta - I ate a lot of Beans.

I never had any carb limit, rather I just tried to optimize the nutrition from the non-protein part of my diet which worked out to roughly splitting carbs and fats, but that wasn't a specific goal. I couldn't afford the potential side effects of being overly low on carbs, so I let the caloric deficit do its job that it has always done in losing weight. Part way through my loss phase, around four months out, I specifically increased complex carbs in certain meals to improve exercise endurance.

I'm within a couple days of being two months post-op. My surgeon and nutritionist have set my limit at no more than 15 per day.

I've found that my post op plan is a little stricter than most people's. I'm not allowed any starchy carbs, no bread, Pasta, rice, potatoes, crackers, etc.

Right now the only carbs I'm getting are from Greek yogurt and the very small amount of non-starchy vegetables I have room for, once I eat my Protein for each meal.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
