I applied at www.insurenutrition.com

I've bought these drinks at BJs and they are very good. I tried them before I was approved. There was a link on the bariatric pal site too.

Good luck!

I didn't pay anything. It was covered 100% by my insurance.

Your insurance paid for your shakes? WOW.

I was assigned a worker when I started my journey (through my 6 months supervised program) she said she did not think it was covered. But I believe I read somewhere the meals and Protein shakes may be covered.

I live in WA state and have Uniform Medical through Regence.

It is certainly worth checking into further.

If you don't mind what insurance do you have? When did you have your surgery?

I just called them. I have to register online and then they will check it all out and let me know.

They said it takes 2 to 3 weeks to get things done.

I agree this could be a huge savings.

Thanks so much for the information.

I have united healthcare for medical and Caremark for prescriptions. I think this was covered through my prescription plan. They sent 4 cases of Protein Drinks. 1 months supply of bariatric Vitamins, and some scar cream. They said they will send automatically for the next year. I will not have to pay anything out of pocket. From when I applied it's been about 8 weeks total till I received anything.

I also get my shakes from Insure Nutrition. No co-pay. My insurance covers it. I like the chocolate but not the strawberry. I drink one every morning on my way into work :-)

You can also get these at costco and Sam's too. They are about 18.98/box of the shakes. I do drink them daily. Since I was self pay, I never looked into seeing if they could be covered.

Yay for all of you that get them covered!

So I just found out, my insurance doesn't cover this. However, they do offer state employees a discount prescription card that will kick in when your Doctor writes an Rx for anything not covered inclusive over the counter supplements, and meds. So if my Dr. writes me a Rx for the supplements, I can use the card which generally discounts 10 to 50%.

Guess that is better than nothing. Thanks for this information and at least getting me hunting that may save me some money.

@@magicalwoman they are currently on sale on Costco.com 19.99 for 18 shakes. Although my FSA account covers them from my Drs office BUT I'm paying double for the same amount! So I was looking for a less expensive way to stock up Pre-op!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
