DianeSav 10 Posted August 19, 2015 band to sleeve revision here. I wouldnt call myself a vegetarian by no means. A good Ribeye is heaven on a plate. I know our diet is mostly Protein and some veggie for the most part. Does anyone here use nuts or seeds as your Protein vs having a piece of chicken or meat? I want to follow a paleo/primal diet but is all the veggies too high in carbs for us and too low in protein if Im eating so many veggies. I read Dr Weiner A Pound of Cure which for his wls patients he is more plant based and so is Jonathan Bailor, The Calorie Myth. More into the superfoods, etc but no counting calories. Anyone follow this type of diet?
WL WARRIOR 692 Posted August 21, 2015 I've been leaning towards a more plant based diet the past few weeks. At 10 months post op, I should be still getting 65 Protein grams daily like my nutritionist recommends, but I've been slightly below that with the plant based eating. I've watched Dr. Wiener's videos where he recommends post op bariatric patients lay off all the Protein after a few months. I have been wondering lately why we need so much protein even after a year post op. In order to increase my daily protein, I need to add in extra calories. Right now I'm getting around 50 grams daily from fish and a Protein Drink.
calitexan 5 Posted August 23, 2015 I know we all hate Protein Shakes by now but I drink at least one share a day. My premeire Protein Shake has 30 grams of Protein so that helps a lot.
DianeSav 10 Posted August 23, 2015 I love my Protein shakes. I use Inspire and have probably 8 different flavors. Im thinking for lunches some walnuts, almonds, things like that but I know its not nearly as much Protein than tuna or chicken
hockeyfan7 249 Posted August 24, 2015 I eat the good ribeye! I have one at least twice a week. Are you wanting to go vegetarian? Paleo/Primal is nowhere near vegetarian. There are plenty of veggies that are low carb. And Paleo/Primal is all about the meat. My Protein comes from beef, pork, chicken, turkey and seafood.
