how much are you eating after 1 month?

Recommended Posts

I am 2 weeks out today and seriously wondered if the doctor had even removed anything during surgery! I had absolutely no pain, no gas and it seems that I can eat/drink quite a bit. Haven't had a problem with Water either. Maybe that will slow down when I'm move to the soft foods next week?

Uh, yes! liquid goes through. When you eat something with just a little weight to it, you will be shocked!

This is so very true. The first week or so I felt the same way. I could drink quite a bit- I thought something was wrong. Now at 4 weeks out I can only eat about 1.5- 2 oz at a time. My favorite is cottage cheese with a bit of avocado. I feel full after a few tiny bites!

At 7 months, I still can only eat 1/2 cup of food. About 2oz meat at a sitting. I have to eat 4-5 small meals a day. I just can't eat that much food. At 1 month it was even less.

Everyone is different. There is no way I could eat 4 oz of meat even if it took me an hour to chew it up. A few bites and I'm full. Too much more and I vomit. It's just they way it is for me.

Watch out for the carbs, they catch up around 5 months and did slow my weight loss. I have more hunger now too.

Lose it while you can. Keep in simple.

So true!!! I can drink and drink, but this week I started adding creamy Soups to my diet. Twice now I have had broccoli cheddar Soup and after about 4 small "bites" I am DONE!

I'm one month out and here is my typical food intake for the day:

I start out with a Premier shake 30g Protein

3-4 hours later, I have 1 soft boiled egg and 3 tbsp's of Fat free cottage cheese, Protein 21g

3-4 hours later, 3 slices of Turkey Breast deli meat Protein 13g

Snack: cheese stick Protein 6g

Dinner: 2oz of either steamed chicken or 2oz of fish plus 1/2 of a sweet potato (not really sure what the protein content of this meal)

I'm fairly certain that I'm in ketosis at this point.

I just started soft Proteins yesterday. 1 egg with 1oz cheese was a little too much at one time. Hubby thought I should get more Protein so measured out 3oz deli beef for lunch. Didn't eat it all and am still feeling stuffed. I don't think I will vomit, but my stomach actually hurts. Is 2oz at a time a more realistic goal? I am not eating any carbs.

I am 3 weeks post op and I feel like I can eat all day and I'm eating to much . For example I had my protien shake for breakfast , after a while I g ad sugar free pudding , then a Greek light n fit yogurt, then half an avocado , and also a 2 whole 2 string cheeses. And it's not even dinner yet. I'm worsening if something is wrong.

*wondering

I tried 2oz ground chicken moistened with a tbsp lemon sauce. I ate about half and now I'm too full and uncomfortable again. I wonder if it's just too soon for my stomach to digest meat. I can eat about 2/3 of 1 egg with 1oz cheese without making my stomach hurt. Guess it would be better to go back to some Liquid Protein. I tried cottage cheese for lunch and just 1 oz was enough, I was full. Definitely not getting enough Protein at this rate.

I'm with I'm with the DJ. Can and do eat too much. Have no trouble getting down 8-12 ounces of meaty Soup or 5-8 ounces of meat (like pulled pork or chicken). It's depressing. I'm still doing pretty well but it's all discipline, not the benefits of surgery. Well, surgery probably has me down in calories some but still too high compared to what I am seeing here.

Monday I will be 4 weeks out. I can eat 4 Oz per meal. I have only felt full or restricted twice and that was 2 weeks ago. I weigh everything and only eat what's on my plate. I've never thrown up, got hiccups, or felt pain. I am a little disappointed that I don't have one of those sleeves that stops me at 2 or 3 oz, but I am thankful that I seem to have some will power to stop at 4 oz. Or... maybe it's really fear of being sick if I eat more. I am getting minimal 60 oz of Protein, 64 oz of Water, and range from 550 to 800 calories a day. Some days I am more hungry then others, but I try to stick to the same eating times and same snack choices.

I hope I have found my groove.

Sounds like your in a good place. I have to stop at 2oz. We made baked Beans today. They went down easy and tasted so good. My taste is really different now. I tried some sugar free pudding but hated it. It was my favorite flavor! I even took down some recipes today for pizza made with veggies for crust, and I always hated veggies. I can't have veggies yet but I have an idea I might like them.

Next week is four weeks. I am going to try meat. Shrimp or maybe salmon and veggies (zucchini or spinach) to start... I don't feel full with these Soups but I eat about 4oz then just stop. Get about 45g of Protein. My problem is the time before and after eating of no Water it's hard to get it all in. Nervous about actually eating! Especially since I don't feel full. 4 weeks out anyone tried salad? What about crackers with tuna?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
