ginner1966 3 Posted August 19, 2015 After years of research I have finally started on the journey to have a bypass later this year. I have not got a date yet but am hoping for mid October. I live in NM and was excited to find out that I would actually be able to have the surgery here. Until recently you had to go out of state for it. Looking for others that are in process as well. ginner1966 3 Posted August 20, 2015 I live in Rio Rancho. They recently opened UNM Sandoval County here and are doing bariatric surgery. I think they are also starting to do them through Presbyterian, but as of right now, you have to have Presbyterian Health Plan. Thank you all for the encouragement. I have had my first appointment with the dietician and my 2nd appointment is next Wednesday. I should have my psych eval sometime soon as well. If all goes according to plan, my 3rd appt with the dietician is end of September and then they should schedule me for surgery 2-3 weeks after that. Hopefully my insurance won't be a problem. I have a BMI over 40. I don't have any co-morbidity issues...but I'll be 50 in March so that's just around the corner if I don't do something soon.
